I have an Xbox 360 SE that used to work perfectly for HDCP. Unfortunately, I plugged the HDMI cable into a different TV for a couple of hours. When going back to the main TV, HDCP handshake was nuked. As a result, I can no longer watch DVDs, HD-DVDs or HBO Go.
I spent weeks searching, and attempted every solution that worked for other people, no joy. Last night I backed up my drive and went full nuclear, then re-initialized from scratch...I still get the dreaded "Secure HDCP link not found". My blu-ray player still works fine, so it's not the TV.
There was a blog post I found the other day, whereas the only solution that worked for his Xbox was an HDMI splitter. Not much info there, so I found an article at HDFury that basically said the same thing, but goes into great detail (not for this particular problem, but still...). But after more surfing, it appears there is even more to this story.
Specifically:
1) I believe what I need is a splitter that ignores or strips HDCP, allowing the movies from my Xbox to play to my TV. Is there a difference between "ignore" and "strip", or do they mean the same thing?
2) In addition, it appears that I cannot use a splitter that supports HDMI 1.4 or later, it must be compatible up to 1.3b...is this correct?
3) It also appears that I will need a powered splitter because (most?) non-powered splitters get their power from having all three devices on simultaneously.
Any answers, personal insights, splitter recommendations would be welcome.
