If this is in the wrong forum let me know or move it.,..but I figured I would get answers from gamers in the PC Gaming forum...

I just purchased a Razer DeathAdder mouse....
All I can say is awesome!!
Very steady and smooth.
Since I am into FPS.......I can honestly tell you that I have had no misfires and for some reason my accuracy has improved dramatically!

Of couse I have used other high quality mouse but they were not made exclusively for gaming!

So I ask the question what type of mouse do you use??

Steelseries Sensei

Best mouse I have owned in a very very long time (if ever). I've gone through a new mouse every year for probably 7 years if not longer due to them all starting to screw up. I've had the Sensei for a year and half and it still works like the first day. Solid mouse all around and I recommend it to anyone.

I had and really liked the Deathadder but after going through 3 or 4 of them I ditched it, went to the Naga and went through 2 of them and decided to try out another company, had a few logitech before those.

Not a mouse.

Many years old and still going strong.
How? I loved those, but now my 3rd one is toast, and I've given up. The buttons start to go, but it seems to be a problem with the plastic itself, not the switches.

For me, the G400 (my MX518 still works pretty good, but lack of prediction rocks). In Windows, I don't think I could handle a non-Logitech G mouse, anymore. The software has me too spoiled.

FI, I recently wanted to make a button toggle the middle button, for a game lacking any such options (Quake came out in the 90s, you guys...). Can a macro do that? No. Can remapping do that? Only for the left button, usually. Can I unassign my side button (yes, there are 2, but forward is unreachable on all mice I've ever used, what's with that?), open a script editor, open the API PDF, and whip that toggle up in a matter of minutes? Yes, I can.

OK, sure, then I had to fart around until I found the persistent profile option, because dynamic profile detection always sucks (unless maybe you never alt-tab), but hey, at least they have that option.

That's what I use on my main desktop and on my gaming HTPC. It works rather well. The main reason why I like it on my gaming HTPC is that it has an on-off switch versus a timeout.

I'm using the DeathAdder 3500DPi for the past year and really like the feel of it and I coupled it with the Razer Goliathus Control edition medium sized mat and it's a perfect match. Really smooth and precise, love it.

Apart from the middle scroll wheel that sometimes act up and that you're forced to install the damn Razer drivers just to remove the damn blue led this mouse is great.

A Zowie AM. If it wasn't for the terrible mouse wheel I would be very happy with it, its superbly accurate and responsive.

Got my Zowie AM today, no complaints the scroll wheel feels great to me.

They sent it in a white box, not sure what thats about. Thought these things came in black boxes.

Actually I do have 1 complaint, 450 dpi is really slow on the desktop. This is my first time using such low DPI (got to be more accurate in COD4)

I have a zowie am also. You can adjust dpi with the switch on the bottom of the mouse. It's a little annoying to use. (G400 has a button on top to adjust dpi). The thing is you can adjust your windows mouse setting without any issue in-game if the game has a raw input option. Not sure about cod4 but a lot of the newer fps' have that option.

Why not leave the DPI alone, and reduce sensitivity, instead? Outside of Gamebryo games, which to a one, have poor mouse support (pixel-perfect movement is impossible, and I don't just mean Bethesda's ), I leave my default DPI alone.

supposedly its better to use lower dpi for first person shooters, for better aim, even if the game has its own setting

im not sure why, just what i read during my mouse research. can anybody explain why its "better" to use lower dpi on the mouse rather than relying on in-game sliders?

If you are using only a slightly lower sensitivity, like say 800 DPI equivalent with the mouse at 1000DPI, you will certainly get odd tracking. When the difference gets to be 2-3x (like 575 equivalent at 1150 DPI, for the AM), I would be surprised if anyone could tell the difference (for int/DPI or DPI/int settings, there shouldn't be any). You definitely don't want to use the highest settings, though, for anything precision, in any current gaming mouse.

If the sensor has only a few native resolutions, use those, else stay lower than malfunctions (2000-2400 DPI for a G9x, FI, depending on surface). 1150 appears to have no downsides w/ your mouse, from what I can see, unless you're used to using really low DPIs at the desktop (though, 1150 would do that, for me: that's mainly why I didn't keep the G300).
