Just to bump this, I am thinking of getting a widescreen monitor, and have a Radeon 9500 Pro...I just downloaded the latest Catalyst/drivers, do you know if it will work with 16 x 10?
I'll be upgrading the vid card soon but would like to use the monitor in the meantime.

YES.
Really? I was just playing around with Catalyst and the highest resolution I can set my desktop to is 1360x1024....I'm not sure if that has to do with the monitor I am using right now (old Dell 17" CRT)

Is there any chance that my old GeForce Ti4200 will support the 1680x1050 resolution? I'm considering getting one of those 20" widescreen monitors as well, and it'd be nice to not have to buy a new video card. If I do buy a new video card it'll be a sub-$80 one.

You should be fine.
