What video card for WoW?

I have a XP2500+ and looking to upgrade my Ti4200 for WoW. Should i get a Geforce 6600GT, 6800, or X800?

From my limited fps testing, wow seemed much more cpu bound than gpu, but a 6800 would be plenty especially if you play other games.

i get like 60-100(cap) fps on my 6800le flashed to gt running at 400/1100.. so a gt or ultra should do just fine

i can run all max on my 9800 Pro with a64 3200+ @40-50 fps

no you dont "need" a 6800 for it, but it sure is nice running everything set to max at high resolutions and getting 60+fps constant and up to 100 in smaller areas.

you'll actually do fine with your Ti4200, wow graphics arent too spectacular.

lol yeah I would hope a GT or an Ultra would do just fine. Either way I think any of those cards will be great for WoW, it doesn't look to demanding for GPU's.

I have been playing WoW since Closed Beta and I use a softmod BBA 9500. It works perfect. I have everything turned up and no complaints. No need to blow a huge wad of cash on a video card for this game.

I'm using a Geforce 4 MX 420 on my laptop running 1024x768 and it's very playable. A Ti4200 definately should be able to play it smoothly. As said above, the game is more CPU bound than GPU.

I've been in the Beta for awhile now and when I'm in the Plaguelands w my 60 warrior (an area with a lot of smog, particle effects), I'm down to 18 fps-20fps or so. I'm running an Athlonxp @ 2.2ghz , 9700 Pro. My game settings are 1280x1024 with all max effects etc. For the most part I'm pretty smmooth, around 30 fps to 60 fps depending on outdoor or indoor scenes.. Any high lvl charactesr who has been in the plagelands expereinced the same lag? I just bought a 2001fp so I'd like to play the game at 1600x1200 with all max effects. Should I upgrade my cpu or vid card? I had a super deal on an X800XT but I'd have to wait awhile for that until they come back in stock at ATI so right now I'm back at square 1 with my decision.

I would get a new cpu kevin, for me anyway wow was much more cpu bound. Gap between my a64 and my 3 gig northwood was 10-20ish + fps depending where I was

one things for sure it needs tons o ram. I had 512 and it choked a lot. 1GB def did the trick. Currently running on athlon 2600 and 6800gt. Going to try put back my Ti4200 and see how well it works.

I went from a gf4200/128 to a X800se 128mb (came with a machine), i suppose it's near the equivalant of a 6600gt or something like that.

It's a big difference from the gf4200. You can turn on settings that make things like the water, look great.
I run at 1600x1200 with everything on, and i get 40-70 fps (compared to 20-40 with the gf4200).
