I've got my new P4 Northwood 1.6A running at 2.2GHz on an MSI Ultra 645 SIS chipset motherboard.
My question is, what voltage's are you guys running yours at?
Mine is currently running at 1.60 which is the max my board will go. I haven't even tried less yet, since it
runs flawless at this voltage. What is the average for you guys with it rock stable, and should i
try decreasing the voltage?

Your input is appreciated

lower volatge would always be better....plus it may knock the full load temp done a 1c or so....

NOt that it may help but I can run 2.3ghz on my 1.8 at 1.55v flawlessly...so try a bit lower and run prime95...it will find the weakness if it exist....

1.525V here for 2.24 GHz. Haven't tried 1.5V but I have a hunch it would work fine...I just really don't want any VCORE errors.

I can also hit 2.4 at default 1.5 voltage but I have not tried to go higher yet.

Mine is running at stock voltage (1.5V). I have not try to go for higher FSB , might do it this weekend.

You should be able to run it on 1.5v if you have good PSU.
but i think 1.6 will not do any harm since most of people
here run it more than that. I think what you should do is increasing
the FSB up to the limit that vcore 1.6v can handle.

< You should be able to run it on 1.5v if you have good PSU. >

that statement is a bunch of crap....there are no guarantees that any 1.6 will oc and all of them oc comparably....some chips will take more to run certain speeds period!!!! I have seen ppl running top of the line antec and enermax power supplies not getting a 1.6 to 2.2 at default voltage...

Dont spread fud....

My 1.6a o/c to 2.13 is rock stable at 1.55 volts. I've run prime95 for 24 hours without errors. Temp maxxes at 51 degrees celsius

I am running a 1.8 Gig Northwood at 2.4 Gig (133 MHz FSB). Lowest voltage for completely stable operation is 1.775 Volts.

I am using a TH7II with MrNatural's excellent 39C bios upgrade. Also, it is very important to reduce the multiplier for the memory from 4X (400 MHz) to 3X (300 MHz). There will be no loss in memory bandwidth because the memory will still be at the rated 800 MHz (3 X 133 X 2 = 798 MHz). Unless you do this the high FSB speed will result in very unreliable memory with catastrophic results to stored data.

It's true but most people here are happy with their 1.6 overclockability.

When I said "GOOD PSU" i don't reffer it to be branded and expensive,
GOOD here meaning it give you the voltage like it supposed to be.
if you check on the BIOS or some hardware monitor sometimes
it says that the VCORE is less than 1.5v.

I've also gotten my 1.6a up to 2.4+ at 1.5V with the stock HSF on a P4S333. With one of the new Antec True 330W power supplies the board is showing vcore at 1.504.

FYI: I originally couldn't get this chip past 133 FSB until I changed out my old Matrox G400 video card.

thanks guys for your input. I've now gotten her down from 1.6V to 1.525V. And she's still running
rock solid even after sisoft sandra burn-in test on high stress for cpu and madonion 3dmark looping.
I used to have an Athlon XP 1600+ before this and i must admit, i would never go back.
It's nothing against AMD, as i loved my athlon, but i really love the 533FSB of my new Northwood
and most of all........my system is now QUIET again! ahhhhh......no noisy delta fan

i would suggest running prime95, if you haven't already. it stresses the CPU more than sisoft burn in or 3dmark2001 will. i've seen seemingly stable systems crash with prime 95. that said, i am able to run prime95 and 3dmark2001 simultaneously for 10 hours (it doesn't crash after 10 hours, but that is the longest time i'm away from my computer on any given day) at 2.32gHz with 1.55 volts. i had a 1gHz@1.47 with an sk6+7000rpm delta fan before my current system, and there is no going back once you have quiet AND performance. good luck with your computer!
