What was the event that led to the most physical pain you've ever felt?

My most painful physical experience was waking up a couple years ago with back spasms, something I never had before. Every slight move in any direction felt like strips of flesh being torn off my back with a pair of pliers. It took me 90 minutes to get up from the floor, with help, where I had slithered down to in hopes it would be easier to climb back up to my feet (which it wasn't by any measure.) I had no idea back pain could be that ridiculously crippling!

Event - Minor bike crash on the trails
Affect - After finishing another 7 miles of riding I ended up with a stage 3 groin pull due to the misaligned hip caused by the minor crash earlier.

Horrible horrible pain, I was on crutches for 3 weeks and the simplest of tasks were very difficult and painful. The pain was worse than my clavicle break.

Cluster headache. I used to get them a lot. I spent 12 hours throwing up from the pain and then passing out with my head in the toilet. I'd wake up, throw up, and then pass out again every 30 minutes or so. It was worse than hyperextending my knee playing football, worse than bending my hip in a car accident, worse than each of my 16 broken bones, worse than getting my foot caught up in a chain and having the flesh ripped off to the bone.

I used to get those headaches at least three times per month.

Ear drum ruptured from an ear infection. Felt like someone stabbed me in my ear canal with a hot poker and then had blood coming out of my ear.

I was going back and forth between this and ripping my big toe nail off after it was already mostly mangled and everything that touched it was causing lots of pain. Decided to go with ear drum.

Note to self: Remember to bring trauma kit to the ATOT Christmas party.

Pulled a muscle in my back stepping out of a golf cart around the 12th hole. That sucked. I had to ride the rest of the course in a bumpy ass cart and couldn't even finish the round. Also, I recently had an infection on my finger. Antibiotics helped a bit, but the infection came back. Dr. sliced it open and squeezed the puss out of it. THREE TIMES. So much blood and puss. I actually took pics lol

I know migraines, up to a few hours of misery at a time usually for me, but can't imagine getting clusterbombed by them. No mercy.

A month ago, someone with the highest threshold of pain I know, suddenly burst out screaming from a ruptured ear drum. It was like he was shot.

Brachial Plexus injury. It's basically a nerve injury to the nerve bundle that handles an entire side of muscles on your body. I cried so hard, never done that before. I just wanted my arm removed from my body.

After a few nights of that it went away and I'm left with a right arm with severe muscle atrophy and seemingly no regeneration in sight. Went from benching 285 -> 95 Deadlift is basically non-existent now.

I used to keep buckets in my bedroom and living room in case one struck and I couldn't make it to the bathroom in time. Those were not awesome days.

This sounds terrible. I've never gotten a migraine, but my SIL gets them all the time. I feel bad for her, but nothing we can do really.

had to have a catheter inserted into my little Jeeebus while awake/not sedated as a teenager.

Interesting fact... a penis is not like a vagina when it comes to ease of slipping foreign objects in.

Either breaking my ankle while spraining the other one at the same exact time, or partially popping out a disc while squatting wrong.

Had surgery for a pretty bad groin hernia a few years back, moving around wasn't fun (felt like I had a hook in my crotch being pulled at constantly), but the real fun happened when I got up too fast after getting home. Whatever meds they put me on immediately caused me to lose equilibrium and get nauseated. I made it to the bathroom but vomiting felt like someone was just ripping that hook out, repeatedly. Almost passed out from it (the meds probably helped).

I was in a fire when I was 12 or so and got 2nd and 3rd degree burns on about 80% of my feet. I had to relearn how to walk once everything finally healed and do lots of physical therapy for it. To be honest, the most painful part was what they call debriding, where the infected and burned flesh is removed from you. Imagine like 3 adult men holding you down inside a whirlpool bath while another scrubs your wounds with instruments under jets of hot water. The fire itself + all the rehabilitation were nothing compared to a few sessions of that shit.

I had a pretty bad case of appendicitis. They tried to remove it laproscopically, so I got the normal 3 small incisions. Once in there, they found that I was in such bad shape that they went ahead and cut me open with about a 3" incision. None of that was the worst...

For the next couple of days after the surgery, a nurse would make me clutch a pillow to my abdomen and cough as forcefully as possible. Each time it felt like my guts were being ripped out with a pitchfork.
