I have had other painful experiences:

sprained ankles
dislocated thumb (elementary school - I reset it myself)
cramp in my calf muscle (that hurt like a bitch and my calf was all bulging near my knee)
finger caught in a car door (stupid thing to do and ripped off most of my fingernail)

Having a Chlamydia test done 25 years ago. They stuck a long q-tip down my Weiner. I cannot even describe the pain 10+ of 10.
I passed and was angry I did it.

Not quite as crazy as some of the stories here, but when I was 16, I had my wisdom teeth removed by an oral surgeon. One of the removal sites became infected, so he had to go back and scrape out the inside on two separate occasions - the local anesthetic didn't really do anything to alleviate the pain from the scraping.

Probably lower back going out and laying on the floor unable to move for an hour...couldn't even crawl.

Close second- was on a canoe trip in the middle of nowhere (no cell, no roads, no cities for 50+ miles)- rapid pushed the canoe towards a large rock- I stupidly pushed off the rock with my hand not seeing it was a jagged rock. I split my hand wide open and really deep- I could see tendons or some white shit down there...it was actually kind of fascinating when I was looking at it until I really realized what happened. The actual injury was pretty painless from the adrenaline. Luckily one of the guys on the trip was a surgeon and had a basic medical kit with him, so I had the pleasure of getting a bunch of stitches on the side of the river. That sucked, and the worst part was we were 3 days worth of canoeing before any signs of humanity including some fairly intense rapids, so I had to 'use' the hand as best I could w/ the fresh wound. And of course was told to keep it out of the water - fast forward 3 hours and we flipped the canoe. That hand hurt like a bitch for months, and years later if I hit something on just the right spot I'd get a huge spike of pain. It's finally healed now and the scar blends in w/ the other lines on my hand. I have always wanted to go to a palm reader though to see what they would say the line represents.

Shingles- it felt like someone was rubbing the skin off my back with a brillo pad that was on fire- lasted about 10 days too....

I'm not questioning the level of pain you experienced, but I had shingles (in 2005 I think), on my hip. Initially it felt like someone had pushed a needle into my skin, but apart from needling sensations and having to wear gauze on my hip to reduce friction on the wounds, it was pretty unremarkable.

kidney stone.

it is the strongest pain sensation known.

I've always heard this, but I want to know who made that statement and by what basis. I've had kidney stones (not big ones) and they were certainly the greatest pain I've ever experienced. But I'm not convinced that they easily compare to cluster headaches, a broken spine or significant third degree burns....if only because the sensation of pain would be so different anyway.

Got circumcised when I was 18. Got an erection the same night after surgery with the soluble sutures still in. Thought my penis ripped & imploded. Controlling your mind to lose the erection and at the same time experiencing that pain was seriously difficult. The subsequent three weeks where you can't "gratify" yourself were equally painful and the random erections(especially in the mornings) before the sutures fell off felt like hell.

I'll go with kidney stones. Woke up one morning and began to puke. My back hurt so bad. The spasms were unbearable. They had go in and remove the stone and put a stint in because I wasn't passing the stone. After the stint was put in every time I pissed it looked like cherry koolaid and felt like acid coming out. I dreaded going to the bathroom for about 2 weeks.

Probably when I got tazed. Doesn't last long but feels like forever.

Yeah, this would probably be close to #1 on my list as well. I guess it wasn't really a tazer, just one of those hand held stunners. Still sucked. My other candidates would probably be a few gall bladder attacks or the one kidney stone I passed some years ago.

had to have a catheter inserted into my little Jeeebus while awake/not sedated as a teenager.
Came in here to say that, foley catherter. Just had it done 6 weeks ago 2 days after rotator cuff surgery when I stopped urinating. Went to the ER an they drained almost a full liter. Luckily a short pain but very intense. Coming out wasnt pleasant either but not nearly as bad.

Broken tooth, exposed nerve was pretty bad also. Idiot dentist in the Air Force pulled it without waiting for the anesthetic to take effect also.

Problems others seem to have had probably far outweigh this.

after experiencing 7 hours curled up on the floor in excruciating agony waiting for the stone to pass, it ranks as the worst pain I have ever had. And I had a tooth filled with no freezing.

renal colic involves different areas and thus lots of pain at once.

Cluster headache. I used to get them a lot. I spent 12 hours throwing up from the pain and then passing out with my head in the toilet. I'd wake up, throw up, and then pass out again every 30 minutes or so. It was worse than hyperextending my knee playing football, worse than bending my hip in a car accident, worse than each of my 16 broken bones, worse than getting my foot caught up in a chain and having the flesh ripped off to the bone.

I used to get those headaches at least three times per month.

I think I had one of these once in my late teens. Thankfully I passed out from the pain after half an hour or so.

When I was 12 I needed surgery on my big toe. The doc put a tourniquet on it and the first shot of local he stuck in right under the toenail. I know why sharp objects under the nails is torture.

Through an unwise decision of mine, I ended up erasing my left wrist joint and various small bones in the area from existence. At the time, I didn't think anything could top the pain I had in the ER when the adrenaline wore off. They had to cut off my clothes and gear to move my arm around. That was a silly assumption because the pain from the hip graft made that one seem pleasant. It took me about 30mins to sit up in bed, step down and turn to sit in a wheel chair.

To be honest, the pain and ordeal of the incident and surgeries is minor to the fact that it has caused me to give up a couple of hobbies that I love.

That sounds seriously painful. And I thought needles on the butt were bad.

What's odd is the dental ones, you don't actually feel it going in. If feels like they're just touching you and then you start to freeze up. Maybe they're more agile with them and can manage to get it to freeze immediately as it goes in, or something.

I was 16 when I had surgery for an ingrown toenail in my big toe. The 3 locals I got were very painful. I got to watch the surgery to fix my toe. That was pretty nasty. LOL.

Never really had anything physically bad happen to me.

I'd probably have to say the couple times in my life I've gotten a migraine were the worst.

I hate dental pain. I had a bad filling and ate a hard granola bar while it was still numb... right about the time the lidocaine was wearing off and it turned out it was super inflamed and I was crunching down on a nerve basically.

It was so sensitive I had pain slowly chewing overboiled mac n cheese weeks later.

It wasn't the worst actual pain... but when I has testicular torsion it was really hard to explain why I was doubled over in the middle of highschool in pain. Like uh.. my balls hurt? Mine were twisting/untwisting on their own so instead of emergency surgery I got scheduled surgery. Blood flow was fine, got two jewels still.

Spent so much time working and sitting in a damn chair that I aggravated a lower back injury (that I got from getting after up from a chair after 3 hours of meetings...!). For the next few days I could barely get out of bed. Couldn't even reach down. Took me 30 min to get dressed and walk 2 blocks to the pharmacy for pain killers... which didn't really do anything.

That, and a migraine so bad I couldn't open my eyes.

Nothing exciting here folks.
