What was the felony GW committed as a college kid?

Evidently Texas has a three strikes rule. Your third DWI conviction is a third degree felony.

Not only can felons not run for public office, they can't even vote! So, obviously, GW didn't commit any sort of felony... or at least that's what he wants us to believe.

That can't be true! Kerry is a confessed war criminal and he is running for President! Democratic govenors are sending ballots to prisons!

I see we've toned down the rhetoric admirably here on P & M.

In many states convicted felons CAN get their right to vote reinstated.

Wow, where did this asshole come from, Pretend Viet Nam Vets for the Dub?

I think the year I spent in country would have taken more imagination than I have. How about someone who was there and knows that Kerry's stories simply don't match the facts. I was in Dalat, Bien Hoa, Saigon, Can Tho, Bang Me Thout, Cam Rahn, Pleiku, etc. I've met a few fakes and the give away is that they can never pronounce Bang Me Thout. They don't do well pronouncing "33" bier either. No, the only pretenders are you liberals. Most of you seem to be Joe College and can read, but haven't done much else. I did read the age of the posters thread.

Someone pretending to be a Vet could be well versed in Vietnamese locations too. You sure wouldn't be the first.

Just because they are prisonsers doesnt mean they can't vote, only those with felony convictions.

I have my 214, where is yours? I have 10 points veterans preferance for federal jobs. How many do you have?

Lucked out and didn't have to go. Good thing too because I wouldn't have been able to get a college deferment nor would I have had someone to pull strings and get me in the Air National Guard. I would have been stuck in some rice paddy scared out of my mind shooting the first Villager that looked at me cross eyed.

If you actually are a Vet then I apologize. You went through something that I am glad I didn't have too. If it weren't for the luck of the draw I might of had too (Born in 54)

Actually, most RVN troops weren't in rice paddies. I was AFAT ALC. Just the Bonnie Rats were in the paddies. They had the toughest duty next to the tunnel rats. The most dangerous was Huey driver. So, lets assume that your insinuations are correct despite Bush volunteering on record to fly F102's in RVN and he did avoid the draft through political influence. How does that compare with John Kerry's get out of jail free card concerning his confessed war crimes? That must have taken huge pull. He actually said he did those things! I think he was granted a pass because, even back then, he was seen as a liar and exaggerator.

That is true and, I hope, the basis for the ballots going to the prisons. Actually, I'm sure it is.

Let me set you straight about what I feel about the Dub getting to be in the Air National Guard. Good for him. I bet most of those who were drafted and sent over to Nam would have traded places with him in a heartbeat. I don't fault the Dub, in fact I think it was a smart move. Unfortunately for those who were drafted and killed or maimed they didn't have the same opportunity as he did.

Actually, I was and do appreciate your comments. This isn't combat, it is just a thread and for fun. Nothing is taken personal, but some comments do invite a reply. I never anticipate changing anyones convictions. I know that most are simply too firm in their convictions to be swayed. I think some members actually hope to change minds - both ways. I certainly hope that you didn't take anything I said as an affront. We are all here to debate our sides and it is basically no holds barred within the forum rules. I am glad that you lucked out and have never thought otherwise about anyone who didn't go to RVN. I was USAF and volunteered and have always known that it was a personal choice except for draftees. I felt really sorry for them because many of them shouldn't have been there and many died or were maimed for life. I support the draft, but I don't support sending troops who don't want to go to combat into combat. I am glad every day that I don't have to make the decisions that the President does. Reality does not allow for personal preference on most days. War is hell and I wish we never had to have another. I was hoping that the ME wouldn't go as has been predicted for decades. It has, and I appreciate strength at the helm when we need it. This post isn't part of the debate and is just in respect for your position.

Great post. If more people who support our actions in Iraq and our President would convey their opinions like you just did many of us who might disagree with the war at least would be able to understand why you have that opinion.
