My suspected first post:

OPEC charges everyone about the same for oil. The only reason citizens of other countries pay more at the gas pump is because of taxes impossed by their own government.

I'd been lurking for a little while, courtesy of my then-boyfriend. I started a thread, intending not to stay (that's why I picked this infernal name), asking for gift suggestions for a computer aficionado. As I recall, I wound up getting accused of being a gold-digger because I refused to consider anything sexual for a gift. "Hello, welcome to the forums. You're female? GTH." I didn't figure on getting hooked with an introduction like that.

I think the thread may have gotten erased in the great crash of '01.
