Or something like that. I skipped college for a few years. Joined the Army instead. Best thing I ever did (other than getting married and having kids). Now I am back in school, the SAT means nothing, neither did my ACT score(33). All of the little college kids are having a hard time keeping up with the guy who has been out of school for 10 years.

I would say that college apps are now more then just SAT scores. Most ppl that apply to MIT and the like have high scores anyways. Now, its &quot;you have an application, now SHOW me what makes you special.&quot; I think thats the mentality you should have when tackling a college app.

I took it two years ago, got 730 Math 710 Verbal. I feel like a bum for not getting 800 in Math, but I was happy about the Verbal. 1440 overall is a good score .

and I was investigated by the board for it too, because in my entire high school life (5 years btw) I only passed one class. My GPA was a .012 when I left school and went to college instead. Unfortunately because of my poor GPA I could never get anyone to let me take the AP tests or any other advanced college tests...which is too bad because I would have done well and saved a lot of time.

It was kind of a bad idea though, because I got harassed for getting high 70's in school and &quot;not reaching my potential&quot;./q] At least you didn't harassed until after they saw your SAT scores. I was always harassed for not reaching my potential. The highest my GPA ever got in high school was 2.47. I forget the split but my total SAT score was 1538. Everyone thought I christmas treed it because I did it in about two thirds the time we were allowed.

You are DEAD ON. The SAT scores were &quot;re-centered&quot;. I forget the year (1990?), so it means that a 700 prior to the re-centering is really an 800 today (not exactly, but you get the idea).
This was deemed easier than replacing important educational stuff like &quot;My Two Mommies&quot; with English, Math and other liberal BS.

Tried to find more info on re-centered SAT scores. Not much luck. There are, however, a number of colleges posting histories of freshman classes SAT averages year by year. Not one of the sites I saw has a disclaimer about the re-centering.
