What was your college major?

random thread to occupy time what was your major in college? or what is your major, if you're currently a student.

I was a dual major, English (lit theory concentration) and Sociology. What I liked about English was that it was so interdisciplinary, at least for us Lit people. Almost all of us were dual majors because of it... you could take what you were learning in almost any other class and somehow apply that knowledge to what you were learning in your English classes. Plus, at least with the teachers I had, innovation (in addition to writing quality) was the most valued attribute. Any major that discourages memorization is the major for me

The Sociology major came almost entirely from love. I took an intro to sociology class during Freshman year and fell in love with sociological theory. It's just so interested, and it fit so well alongside my English studies.

Got my BS in aerospace engineering in the spring of last year, working on my master's in it now.

I like it because it's very multi-disciplinary (at least in undergrad); you get a little bit of all the engineering disciplines rolled into one so it's not as easy to get burned out by seeing the same type of material over and over again.

that reminds me of this guy I sat next to in Spanish 4, during Sophomore year. He was a senior who was about to graduate with a philosophy major and a minor in art.

edit: in fairness to the fine arts, it's one of the few majors that require you to have been born with some talent if you want to get anything higher than a "C for Credit". I know I could never do it... I played an instrument for 2 years and I never was able to read music; and my painting is awful. lol.

I was this close to becoming a music performance major, but once I realized that the odds of someone winning a job in a top tier symphony is worse than that of being struck by lightning, I decided to become an engineer instead.
