what was your cpu "downgraded" from?

i dunno if this is really true or anything, but on this site, , as im sure many of u know, it will give u a bunch of info on your AMD chip. i just got my 2100+, 0304, and it sais it was downgraded from a 2800+. maybe its because it failed as a 2800+, who knows. i will post how much this one OC's once i get my rig up, should be in a few days. i was just wondering what it said about your chip, what date it was made on, and how far u actually OC it compared to what it was supposedly downgraded from.

What This Really Is

The originator of this revised his explanatory article to indicate that these two digits are actually the laser marker ID used for chip tracing (scroll down about 75% down the page and see "Update" after "Part VII").

So this turned out to be a coincidence. Certainly don't fault the guy; he made a reasonable guess that just didn't pan out; it isn't like AMD (or Intel) would ever publish information like that.

The numbers used have nothing to do with "downgrading", it's used to identify the equipment used to produce the chip.
