Let's see... For me it was back in 1998 beginning with Half-Life, SS2, Episode 1 Racer, and X-Wing Alliance.

Zork on an Apple II. It was pitch black and I was eaten by a Grue.

PC meaning proper ibm/intel pc, or any personal computer? my friend had an apple II-series, not sure which one. had some horrible game where you had a tank and you had to shoot bases, which would shrink and disappear.

It's a classic... but for me, it was:

The one and only. I got my mind blown the first time I saw it in action. It marked me enough that the memory of that moment is still carved in my brain. I still clearly remember the actual store itself, where the PC demo stand was located within the store, what t-shirt I was wearing and my father behind me wondering what in the great heck was that thing I was playing, and me just staring at the screen moving the DOOM Guy randomly around. Like a kid in a candy store, with my jaw dropped, eyes wide opened (probably forgot to blink too) unable process the awesomeness all at once.

Pretty much looked like this:

Only with one hand on a mouse, the other on the keyboard wondering which key to press to do something (PCs themselves were also very new for me at the time).

Ah... DOOM...

Doom 2 on Windows 95. First game ever and it was glorious. Couldn't get through much though because I was always scared of the demons D:

wizard if Id on Commedore 64 at the local library back in the mid 80's. I would spend 2-3 hours at a time playing different games: Karateka, Aliens, Spy Hunter, etc, etc

If TRS counts, the stick-figure baseball game for it. Forgot the name.

On a proper IBM compatible PC, Tetris.

My son was reading over my shoulder...

He said "spamming F4 while you went to the bathroom when you were playing Star Wars Galaxies..."

He was about 6 at the time...

I can't really remember... it was either Gorillas (that old game where you input angles and velocities to throw explosive bananas to take out the opposing player), Number Munchers, or Oregon Trail. We never had a very good computer for most of my formidable years, so my exposure to PC games was pretty limited. When we finally got a decent PC, it was limited in gaming by its 2MB ATi Rage Fury Pro video card. I really wanted to play this game demo, but the game required 4MB.

Odell Lake?
Odell Woods?
Number munchers?

Haha, few months late.

I definitely remember playing Where in the World is Carmen San Diego and Math Blaster. Probably Number Munchers.

We got our first home computer, Macintosh LC, around 1990. I remember playing educational games like Math Blaster and Kid Pix on that. We had a Mahjong gang for it as well.

who remembers the game where you have to make it to the top of a mountain

at the top you had to go in a building and climbs some ladders to a boss

there was another game that took place in a mansion

Still not sure what games these were at all that I remember playing a lot.

The game in a mansion had power control rooms or something or at least as far as I remember anything about it.

The first game involved multiple levels with caves and you had to get to ladders or something to climb to the next mountain level until you got to the top level of the mountain and maybe there was a cave or something that led to a room with ladders you had to climb and even move between ladders to fight the boss to eventually win the game.

I remember my first PC game was Mega Race that came with my Packard Bell 486 PC. I didn't like the game though. I remember then I bought some Sierra games like Alien Lagacy, Betrayal at Krondor, Indy Car Racing, oh and the original Jagged Alliance was addicting.

Though it was until the SVGA games like Transport Tycoon, WarCraft 2, HOMM that made me really felt like PC gaming is superior. I remembered spending lots of time playing SimCity 2000 in my high school library with those networked Macintosh.

Really miss those time when I don't have to worry about anything in life other than my homework and just enjoy one of the best era of pc gaming.
