Actually...now that I think about it....my first really great PC game was Leisure Suit Larry.
It took my 5 tries to get that chick into bed.

Too many levels of greatness.

"The Art of War" on a Tandy

X-Com on DOS

Master of Magic for lasting value (it still is great, play a game every few months)

Civ 2 for addiction, serious addiction

Unreal Tournament for pulling me back in

-Ultima IV
-Sid Meier's Pirates Gold
-Wing Commander I & II
-Half Life
-So many more

Looking back, PC games sure have given me alot of fun. I really miss the old "multiplayer at the same keyboard" games though. Online is fun, but I liked being able to get ripped with my friends while beating each other up in games like Conquest of the New World, Lords of the Realm 2, Rise of Ancient Civilizations, etc.

Just a look at my name should tell the true hardcore (and older) gamers which one I liked first

Reading through this list brings back a lot of memories, and leads to one inescapable conclusion: I have wasted a sh1tload of my young life.

Hah! "Sun Tzu's The Art of War." Now that brings back memories of archers and barbarians (whatever they were supposed to be) scaling block-pixel castle walls. And it came with a full copy of the original book. Remember when games came with some fun extras, not just a CD case and a slip of paper telling you how legally screwed you are if you have any problems? Anybody remember an ancient text-based Infocom title called "Wishbringer?" That one actually came complete with a bound novella and the "magickal" stone from the game (a luminescent hunk of plastic, but hey, I was six).

Castles II: Siege and Conquest

Still my favorite game of all time, though it won't run except under DOS and it won't detect modern sound cards so it won't start...

Ultima was the very first "Must have super game"! I think Ultima III actually brought computer games into the limelight. I remember forking over $40 in 1983 for Ultima IV. Wow, the memories

The Sierra Discovery Series Adventures. When I was young I got really hooked on these, Castle of Dr Brain, Lost Secret of the Rain Forest etc... To bad Sierra doesn't make adventure games any more.
