One of the very first Dynamix games: ArcticFox on my Amiga.

Played that thing for hours on end. Then realized that you could located the alien base by looking at the back of the box. Had a picture of the alien base as you were looking through the game and it had the coordinates right on the back!

Good times.

But I'll have to give a shoutout to all my Xwing and Tie Fighter afficianadoes. Great games. Wing Commander and Privateer were great too.

But my very first computer game was Conan on the old Apple IIe's. Went in early each day in Jr. High just to play that game.

Oh, I thought we were limited to PC games here.
Shoot, if we're going all the way back, I'd have to say the first great game I played was probably M*U*L*E*. I keep a Commodore 64 emulator around just to play that game.

As long as we're looking back, I have to give props to Combat for Atari 2600 (two tanks moving around and shooting at each other), and my first favorite game on ColecoVision--Shark, or something like that. You pointed a light gun at the TV screen and tried to shoot a big white square that was bouncing around like a low-quality screen saver. It wasn't much, but the only alternative at the time was Pong!

The first PC game that I really got into for hours, and hours at a time was Decent 1 (on a 486). I never really got into games on my Apple IIe, or my 386, they all looked like crap.

First computer I owned was a cloned Intel 486 DX 33Mhz

of course the earlier games in 286s include Prince of Persia, Paperboy and Karateka

The only game I remember actually finishing - the original Myst. I get bored by everything else before finishing, no matter how flashy. I've spent quite a bit of money over the years but regret only a few games.

But I was a master at Telengard on C64.

The first good PC game I ever played was Final Fantasy VII... even though it was on PSX first, I first played it on PC. I got into that game... after that it was Half-Life (the original). Half-Life scared the @#$! out of me.
