Traveling with my parents doing flea markets. That was alot of work, all that loading and unloading. Ah, but it was alot of fun, and they paid me 10% of what they sold.

14yo. Learning to preserve centuries-old books in a Jesuit library inferno (vault). Some were still on the banned list at that time. I loved the smell of old books and to be alone amongst the racks, 4 stories underground in a crypt-like atmosphere. Not a sound but my own. Lovely peace. Everytime I see The Name Of The Rose, I remember this job.

Got no suntan at all that summer.

When I was ten years old, I received a merit badge for being the best Girl Scout Cookie salesgal in the tri-state area (the states being Oklahoma, Missouri, and Arksansas.) I didn't get to keep any of the money, and I didn't get any free cookies, but by golly, it was a job anyway.

My first job was as a self taught gynecologist. It was a taxing job that didn't pay any money. But, as a generous man, I had to do it - for the good of womankind.

Just kidding.

Paperboy. Then KFC for three hours. Oh, the humanity.

I was 18 and worked at a delivery warehouse, for a business that delivers packages to other warehouses. Did all sorts of things from filing, data input, stapling and answering the phone.
Worked 40 hours a week. Got paid biweekly a whole $183 for two weeks' worth of work. That is 80 hours if you didn't notice.
Now I work 10 hours to get paid the same amount. Pretty bs eh?

Newspaper, starting @ 13.
Newspaper routes are frigging great man, good hour and good pay. if you consider how many hours you actually have to work, your age, your work experience (or the lack of), how easy the job is, and how much free time you actually have left the rest of the day, it's a great job (or for tax purpose, self employed business =). I held 2 routes in the morning and I did it for 5 years until I went to college.
Not to mention the genorous Christmas tips from the customers =)

I was a candy striper on a Showboat, when I wasn't parading around in pinstripes, I helped build sets between plays, and even did backstage work. The captain told me I was assistant stage manager, but I think he just said that to make me feel important. I was 13.

My first job that was nepotism was mowing grass in vacant lots for the local city govt. I got $10 the first hour and $7.50 every hour after that per job. Not too bad for a 14 year old kid. And that was 16 years ago.
