but am enjoying my newer Swiss and Swiss-powered watches. My dream watch is a NOS '60s Omega SM300, but I would really, really like a newer SM300 (particularly a 2254.50.50), but sure wouldn't say no to a Sea Dweller or one of those green-bezel Submariners.

Invicta Speedway
Swiss Army Standard issue
Just wondering Vito if you post on the zone? don't hear of too many with a Bill Yao modded watch in these parts so I figure you must read a few of the boards....
I saw you said this:

The 60s Seamaster shouldn't be that expensive, or at least not nearly as expensive as some other sports pieces from that era, personally I am a fan of vintage Omega only and don't care for any of their current production with the Speedy Pro and the Co-Axial Deville being the only real exceptions, the black/black SMP is nice but IMHO there are too many better divers watches out there for the same or less IMHO to spend money on it, plus there was a time at ashford.com when you could get a new one for under $900 bucks so I have a hard time paying more for something than I know I could have...
Funny you say you like the "Hulk" Sub as that really gets some negative feedback on the boards, personally I like it but not as much as the black, I think I might upgrade my Explorer to a Sub one of these days...who knows.
If you want a really nice watch for the money check out either some of the RXWs, Marcello, or even the Gevril Trivbeca limited edition...also Tudor is supposedly going in house sooner or later and I hope when this happens they come back to the US as a lower cost In house based watch from Rolex would be very cool.
As of lately I have been more into "white" metal watches however I do like gold, just feel awkward when wearing gold at times which is why I like the silver/white gold/platinum.....someday I would like to get either a nice JLC or a Rolex Cellini for a dress piece....a Patek would be ideal but far out of my budget unless I go into sales and am highly successful.

I really like the Explorer. I like the smooth bezel a lot better than the President-style bezel, and the Explorer is a nice, clean design. I am considering buying a Bell&Ross Vintage 123, which is an Explorer-style watch I can potentially afford (at least used).
I hear you, re. the SMP, but to me it is the handsomest diver on the market, particularly on the Speedy bracelet, and I still want one pretty badly. I remember the Ashford days you describe, but I had NO money in those days, and they are not an authorized Omega dealer anyway.
I know the Hulk Sub is controversial, but on some level I like its slightly monstrous appearance. The thing is, I have no desire to own a watch I can't afford to wear, and I can't afford to wear one of those, at least not right now.
I have seen the MarcelloCs and Gevrils, and they seem like good deals. The thing is, they are such transparent Rolex clones IMO, and if I am spending that kind of money I would rather have something with a character of its own (like my 656). The Gevril does seem like a great value for a Daytona-style chronograph, I must admit. As for the Tudors, I am enamoured of the early Rose Tudors, and would love a Tudor Mil Sub with the club-style hands. Those are really cool IMO. If Tudor really goes in-house, I would have to assume the prices would go way up, which does not really appeal to me - personally I am totally OK with an ETA movement, in that it facilitates service, and provides reasonable-to-outstanding accuracy. Hell, I am totally OK with the rather crude Seiko 7S26.
I, too, would love a ritzy dress watch at some point. There seem to be some small German makers who produce some gorgeous pieces for sane amounts of money. I would certainly not say no to a nice JLC or other simple, beautiful Swiss dress watch, given the opportunity.
