I didn't want to brag but I really like my new watch, It's has many features just take a look.
It has an altimeter, weather indicator, digital compass, thermometer, etc. And this really cool touch sensitive non scratching saphire crystal that when you touch it the watch switches functions. I feel like James Bond
oh and its bullet proof.Text

My watch. Watch

I don't wear it much but it's nice to have. My new A70 camera came in handy in for taking the pic.

Currently I only have three which I think is the perfect number for me however I have owned a few in the past...

So far I have:

Casio G-Shock Databank
Invicta 8926/Old Style Submariner
Rolex Explorer 1 K series

I have owned in the past:
Rolex Datejust A series
Tag Heuer 1500 TT
Invicta 8926 (Sold it and bought it again)
Invicta Speedway
Swiss Army Standard issue

Just wondering Vito if you post on the zone? don't hear of too many with a Bill Yao modded watch in these parts so I figure you must read a few of the boards....

I saw you said this:

but am enjoying my newer Swiss and Swiss-powered watches. My dream watch is a NOS '60s Omega SM300, but I would really, really like a newer SM300 (particularly a 2254.50.50), but sure wouldn't say no to a Sea Dweller or one of those green-bezel Submariners.

The 60s Seamaster shouldn't be that expensive, or at least not nearly as expensive as some other sports pieces from that era, personally I am a fan of vintage Omega only and don't care for any of their current production with the Speedy Pro and the Co-Axial Deville being the only real exceptions, the black/black SMP is nice but IMHO there are too many better divers watches out there for the same or less IMHO to spend money on it.

Funny you say you like the "Hulk" Sub as that really gets some negative feedback on the boards, personally I like it but not as much as the black, I think I might upgrade my Explorer to a Sub one of these days...who knows.

If you want a really nice watch for the money check out either some of the RXWs, Marcello, or even the Gevril Trivbeca limited edition...also Tudor is supposedly going in house sooner or later and I hope when this happens they come back to the US as a lower cost In house based watch from Rolex would be very cool.

As of lately I have been more into "white" metal watches however I do like gold, just feel awkward when wearing gold at times which is why I like the silver/white gold/platinum.....someday I would like to get either a nice JLC or a Rolex Cellini for a dress piece....a Patek would be ideal but far out of my budget unless I go into sales and am highly successful.

seriously though anyone looking at a fake or lookalike Rolex watch should really do themselves a favor and look for "Invicta" watches, generally they are a hundred bucks or less online, many models look just like Rolex watches and they will last a very long time if treated well vs the current fakes you buy on the street which IMHO suck and a junk.

Bozack:

I do lurk around the Zone, the Sinn Forum, the MWR forum, and the Seiko/Citizen forum, but do not post often.

I really like the Explorer. I like the smooth bezel a lot better than the President-style bezel, and the Explorer is a nice, clean design. I am considering buying a Bell&Ross Vintage 123, which is an Explorer-style watch I can potentially afford (at least used).

I hear you, re. the SMP, but to me it is the handsomest diver on the market, particularly on the Speedy bracelet, and I still want one pretty badly. I remember the Ashford days you describe, but I had NO money in those days, and they are not an authorized Omega dealer anyway.

I know the Hulk Sub is controversial, but on some level I like its slightly monstrous appearance. The thing is, I have no desire to own a watch I can't afford to wear, and I can't afford to wear one of those, at least not right now.

I have seen the MarcelloCs and Gevrils, and they seem like good deals. The thing is, they are such transparent Rolex clones IMO, and if I am spending that kind of money I would rather have something with a character of its own (like my 656). The Gevril does seem like a great value for a Daytona-style chronograph, I must admit. As for the Tudors, I am enamoured of the early Rose Tudors, and would love a Tudor Mil Sub with the club-style hands. Those are really cool IMO. If Tudor really goes in-house, I would have to assume the prices would go way up, which does not really appeal to me - personally I am totally OK with an ETA movement, in that it facilitates service, and provides reasonable-to-outstanding accuracy. Hell, I am totally OK with the rather crude Seiko 7S26.

I, too, would love a ritzy dress watch at some point. There seem to be some small German makers who produce some gorgeous pieces for sane amounts of money. I would certainly not say no to a nice JLC or other simple, beautiful Swiss dress watch, given the opportunity.

Used to wear a Swiss Army watch all the time until I broke it wrenching on my car.

Would like to get it fixed if I knew were I placed it

I just use my cell now.

I'm not a collector, but I did inherit a vintage "bubbleback" Rolex that is very nice.

40 year old Rolex Explorer (used to be my dad's)

Got tired of the black plastic watches that broke 3 months after the warranty expired.

Hey Don,

Well if you do lurk around the zone, watchuseek, equation of time, the purists and a few other sites then chances are you have either seen or heard about me as I am a rather "controversial" figure on many of the watch boards..

I know what you are talking about with the Explorer, the design is simple and elegant however the longer I own it the more I want something a little less simple such as a GMT II or Sub, I don't think my 8926 has helped this any as the Sub look of the watch really appeals to me. The Bell&Ross Vintage 123 is also a very nice watch, you might want to also look at either a used Mark XV or a used Aqua Terra Railmaster as they are going for next to nothing new and their used prices I can only assume will be very low.

With the SMP I often see it as a love it or leave it watch, many either love the modern/retro design or others find their older more conservative styles appealing, personally I like their older styles and feel most of their line is going to go seriously retro which is seen with their Aqua Terra models. With re. Authorized or not, with something like a big company that was known to be ok (Old Ashford) then I wouldn't have worried about it, but now with these new shady grey dealers popping up I would have issues.

I see your point with watches having character, personally I just like the looks of the clones too much to pass some of them up, especially at their price points when compared to other more individual brands. With re. Tudor, some of my favs are the 80s-90s Submariners and the Chronographs. Honestly I think if and when Tudor goes in house the price will not go up much at all, I think Rolex is gearing the brand to take the place that Omega leaves behind when they upgrade to all Co-Axial movements and raise prices two fold. I would expect most In house tudors to sell initially for under $2k but that is only my guess. With re. ETA I have no problem with them in some really affordable pieces, however I have a hard time paying for an "Omega" ETA which they don't even make themselves at a price of upwards of a grand when I can get a great Oris, Marcello or many other watches for much less money, often times just a little over half of the MSRP of the Omegas and others.

Some of the german brands are great, personally I love the NOMOS tanginete(sp?) but not sure where that one comes from however it is very reasonable in price last time I checked...oh well always good to meet another enthusiast and look forward to seeing you around.

no watch here. i thought cell phones (since they have a clock) replaced the need for wearing a watch.
