<< Most people at AT swear by newegg. I generally go to Directron or Axiontech because they're close to my house. I prefer Directron because the people that run that place are great to deal with. The 16 year old punk kids that run Axion's store front all need spankings. <------- Damn, that makes me sound like an old man. >>

I have to agree with you on Axiontech. You have to watch them like a hawk and be very specific about what you order, because if they have any old stock on hand they can't get rid of they will try to slip it in.

I use Newegg because with them I know I?m getting close to best price, good service and a good selection. I have made several orders with them plus referred several friends as well and I?ve yet to encounter or hear of a problem. They are not the absolute lowest on any particular item, but they are almost always very close. I?ve yet to find a vendor that has consistently lower prices throughout their entire offering of products while offering better service. I also use Directron for things like cases, power supplies, and case fans. Their site organization is awesome. I especially like their special categories they put together like quiet PC, case mods, and black colored components. I also use CDW for their selection on things like networking products, scanners, printers, and accessories. Between these 3 solid vendors I get just about anything I need.

Well me being from the cold north... lol... cannot order from newegg.
So I do almost all of my online shopping at NCIX (NetLink). They have both Can and USA sites.

and another newegg.com vote

Those guys really impressed me when i sent them an email just asking if it is possible to hurry up my shipping because i needed it in 1 day.
Believe it or not, i received 2 emails in less than 10 minutes: 1st asking the sale order number so they could try to hurry up the process, 2nd saying "Dear customer, we inform you that your order has shipped". And i just made the order a few hours before that.

Does anyone know if the problem with newegg where extra charges were coming up on their credit cards got fixed? There was a long thread about it in OT.

Good point, if TCWO has a monitor you're interested in, that's the place to buy it.
Another good site for cheap shipping is Eagle Computer. I'm not sure if it' still on, but ground shipping was free to pricewatch buyers a week or so ago.

I agree with Newegg, Provantage, Thompson's Computer Warehouse(TCWO), Buy.com, and Mwave.

I've bought things from them in the past and have had good fast service.

I prefer Newegg, Googlegear and Directron.

I've made maybe six orders with Newegg and my last order (a few weeks ago) they fowled up the primary component of an order. I had clearly ordered a retail P4 2.0a (Northwood) processor, by second day air. I was sent a retail P4 1.8a (Northwood) processor. I called for RMA the day I got the 1.8a and convinced them to send the 2.0a next day air, but I still had to pay shipping back to them and they would not send the 2.0a until after they processed the returned processor (three additional working days.) Needless to say I was not happy at the time (since I sent the 1.8a back next day air, and a weekend was involved) as it was an additional eight days before I was able to complete my first Pentium Four system.

Be advised with Googlegear sometimes you can get hit hard by shipping.

Actually, I was one of those and was refuting the charges when more came in. Enough to have the CC company call me to alert me to the problem. Here's the thread. I won't ever shop at Newegg again.
