the old times... back when not every thread devolved into a personal pissing match. YoYo, dug, pizza, ned and many others were much more entertaining and people i would have wanted to meet IRL. I would not want to meet most of the users on here now.

When this was a 14 year-old's bulletin board, I was mostly happy to (a) honor him for his brilliant creation, plus (b) actually succeed in posting something. If anyone responded...Whatta rush!
Coincidentally, in that onceuponatime when I came home to USA, I immediastely got engrossed into building tower computers - and also trying to overclock them like all get-out. Some Anandatech posters actually KNEW WHAT THEY WERE TALKING ABOUT, regasrding co9mponent selection, building and OVERCLOCKING, SO THAT HOOKED ME INTO HERE. I guess I built say maybe 40 or more ultra-fast computers for our consulting business and for some of our clients (not clients for computrer stuff- just other companies that believed they could trust me - rightfullly so as I'm RELIGIOUS about any fiduciary responsibility- you better be too!!!).
Later I had to move to Sweden due to work for years (Earth's 3rd paradise, after California, Fiji, then Sweden where ALL the pretty girls live - Ukraine can't compete - Sweden is theeee place) , then returned home and one day remembered this place. After several years' absence.
Came back under some differnt name. Went so0-so for awhile, nhot really learning much but still finding places I could dip in and help others.

Then came your "moderator" power wielders who didn't like my style so I left again. Once upoon a time I mentioned SEX Gasp!!!! Maybe a few time a year, after some of my local SUPERIOR TO NAPA Santa Ynez Vallety wine, I may look in here.
Very rare . . .the Mods who think they're POWER WEILDING COPS really destroyed AT forums. On the other hand, when I try to talk with a typical 2019 young guy I'm absolutely shocked. Guys so effeminate! Feminist moms have raised girls to be internally stronger, and raised MALES by to be effete in extrteme . . . so who knows...maybe the net effect of ridiculous AT mods are, IN THE EFFECT THEY HAVE, ok?
Moms of today's kids were indoctrinated with WRONG belief the sole diff between fem and man is enculturation. That in FACT is not true.

Back in the days we lived in TeePee`s and used smoke signals to communicate!

Didn't even get my first computer until 1992. Unless you count a typewriter with the built in word processor thing on the tiny 3 inch screen display. And it had a built in single page printer. That was around 1990. But I'm still way old.
