Where in the World is Carmen San Diego

Shanghai, which was this mahjong solitaire game.

Weird when I i saw the question i instantly thought PC, never thought games (cards, tag, kick the can, etc) Nor did it hink PONG, and atari 2600.. But I had home pong (never played in an arcade) and TANK (somebody else stated, console with 4 joysticks you played Tank on, by Telstar (combat was name i think). Had a 2600 (heavy sixer, still have it) first games where COMBAT, and INDY 500 with the controllers. Intelvison, AD&D was the reason i got it, but TRON DEADLY DISC's became an obsession. Arcade: no idea, but i remember all the Black& white games.. I got to play Death RACE when it was out.

But my first thought to this question (until i read all the others) GRIME- free game on XT machines, very simple, you controlled the arrow (yes the arrow) and grime spots (simple square blocks) started on screen , you shot them so they wouldn't grow, but eventually they would overwhelm and crush you. Not sure if any game is like it since. That same year we played Ultima II on the same XT machine and won it... it was my first taste of a true RPG, and been hooked since.

First ten games anywhere or just PC? Since you didn't specify I'll go with anywhere, so from what I remember:
- Pong (about 1976)
My first console was an Odyssey 2, so memory is fuzzy but year was about 1978-1979:
- Baseball
- Football
- Las Vegas Blackjack
- Speedway
- Take the Money and Run
- Hockey/Soccer

I also played Atari at my cousin's house so add the typical Combat, Home Run, etc

Assuming we're talking about PC games (x86), the earliest games I played were EGA 286 era games. Battle of Britain, 688 Attack Sub, Space Quest III, SimCity are about the earliest I can remember definitively although I'm sure there were other games and shareware I played that I can't think of.
688 Attack Sub was awesome! I played that game all the time on my 8088. I have nostalgia just thinking about it.

Wow, been so many decades ago, I doubt I'd remember all that well

If pc only, then probably something like
Temple of Apshai - some texas instruments keyboard/tape drive thing we owned, plugged into the tv. Most of the games we "owned" were actually typed out from magazines, and then recorded onto cassette tapes. Old school.
Pool of Radiance - commodore 64
Return to Atlantis - apple II E and + comps at high school.

console only -
atari 2600 games. probably
pong
battle
adventure
space invaders
pac man

arcades only
space invaders
some game that resembled asteroids a little, but had enemy ships, black holes, and about a million buttons to press, kind of a keyboard precursor. I've been told the name of it before, but can never recall it.

Global Thermonuclear War on the mainframe, 1979.

Greetings, Professor Falken. Thought you were clever to sneak that in the middle of a list, did you? Besides, wouldn't you prefer a nice game of chess?

I first noticed the glory of glowing pixels in the arcade cabinets scattered everywhere but my first PC experience would come as some space-invaders clone on an amber-screened klunker similar to the Commodore PET (straight out of Fallout!)

The TI 99 4/a would be my first PC, though friends with the C64 would come shortly after (gawd I loved that SID music!) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xNAZFUyxQ3M

TI's PARSEC was damned impressive, though! Great, fast-paced fun and B*tching Betty alerting you with a real human voice thanks to the TI speech synthesizer.

The Tandy 1000 EX & SX would be my first IBM-compat with 16-colour games and better sound.
Then my Adlib sound card...
...then my Roland MT-32...
...then there was no turning back.

Counter Strike! Its the only game I know during my childhood days. Never been to hesitant to play any other games and is afraid to be beaten by other players. Too good to have known lots of games today and install it by the help of fast and reliable vpn's and connections.
