SAPPHIRE TRI-X OC Radeon R9 290 4GB $299.99 ($289.99 AR)
So it begins.
$289 for essentially THE best R9 290 is pretty damn good. That price point is probably exactly where the 290 should be. If you want you can spend the extra $40-75 to get a 970 for better power effeciency, but otherwise the performance your getting for under $300 is pretty insane.
You'd be giving up a pretty nice game bundle with the 970 too, though that does have Borderlands bundled with it as well
Borderlands dont even deserve $30 price tag and yes i have to say AMD games bundle are better than Nvidia game bundle. You'd be giving up a pretty nice game bundle with the 970 too, though that does have Borderlands bundled with it as well

Each to his own, but I would prefer the new Borderlands to any of the games in the AMD bundle.

GTX 970 has 4gb of VRam.
GTX 970>R9 290 by all means
Yeah, there is a pair of used Tri-x's in the FS/Trade right now for $225 ea shipped. ($425 for the pair)Gosh, I paid slightly less for mine used. However, they are really nice gpus. I have mine watercooled with EK blocks in my rig below. The air cooler system is quite robust. An EXCELLENT buy for a single gpu user looking for a higher end card.
Mine are in Crossfire and the power is stunning. Here is a graph of the results for my cards at 1075core/1400 mem with the latest 14.9 driver results on the left side and the 14.4 results on the right. These results are for my rig below, and yes there is room to OC more but enough is enough!
All in all great card, and yes we are struggling with the latest driver release 14.9 but hopefully the bugs get wiped out.
So true man i also lost so much money on GTX 780 TI and waiting Nvidia 20nm.Bought this on release. Can you imagine the money loss. That is why I'm waiting for 20nm.
Cards: 645 $ CAD each
Blocks: 140 $ CAD each
Backplates: 38 $ CAD each
Bridge : 40$ CAD ????
With tax, ouch.
269 for the Windforce, although I think it was poorly received initially, not sure about now, I think it had at least one revision

Kinda interested to see the first big holiday sales, it would have to be pretty cheap for me to be tempted, with 20nm in Q1
