What will be the next type of monitor to make it big?

OLEDs will show up in cameras first if they are not already. They will then grow from there to monitors and eventually big enough to replace your home entertainment center.

Cameras within the next year or so.
Notebooks 1-3 years.
Desktops 19" or larger 3-5 years.

Shallow CRTs may never make it to computer moniters, if they do they'll be the next thing, after that OLEDs (once they can increase the life span to a resonable level) then SEDs.

One advantage OLED has , besides better color, lower power consumption, infinitely higher contrast, cheaper production cost and lower dead pixel rate, compared to LCD is its less than 1ms black-white or any color to color transition latency. Even tho people now seems to be satisfied with 8ms g2g transition lag, OLED will definitely improve any visual lag that LCD has.

Oh forgot to say that I see that as a big advantage over LCD.
