What will GTA V be like on the PS3?

I mean, Rockstar did a very lazy job getting GTA IV to the PS3, so how do you think they will go about it with GTA V? Will the shortness of RAM be apparent?

Maybe Rockstar has learned. Red Dead Redemption was fine on the PS3, and isn't GTA V using a different engine?

I played GTA IV on both the PS3 and the 360, and I personally felt the performance was worse on the 360. There were many more instances where I was able to drive fast enough to get ahead of the texture load on the 360 than on the PS3.

RDR had a shorter draw distance on the PS3 vs the 360, especially with the shadows. It also did not run at a native 720P resolution, so the image was noticeably more "blurry" overall. Still perfectly playable and good looking, though. This was similarly true for GTA IV. I imagine GTA V will follow a similar trend.

I'm just hoping the PC version runs good. I know this is a console discussion, but if I don't get a good PC version then I'll be playing it on my PS3 as I don't like the 360 controller that much for this type of game.

That plus RDR had a lot less going on than IV.

Did you install the game to the hard disk and play it from there?

RDR and LA Noire made me finally decide to give GTA 4 a shot. So, 4 years after release, I bought it and started playing over the weekend. Pretty fun game thus far but I have to admit I enjoyed RDR much more. Will definitely buy GTA 5 when it comes out though.

One other thing, I hope they add a feature in GTA 5 to skip action scenes like they had in LA Noire. I know the game has the word 'auto' in the title but I'm really not a huge fan of driving... which may be why I prefer RDR.

I thought RDR and LA Noire were both great games, but I still prefer GTA. Not liking driving would definitely give you a different perspective, though. However, there's a ton of driving in LA Noire and in RDR (though you're "driving" a horse instead of a car).

True but you can skip all driving in Noire an RDR "driving" is a lot more forgiving. Not a big deal if you accidently run into a cactus.

I'll admit though that I'm getting a little more accustomed to the driving. I still don't necessarily like it but I don't dislike it as I did initially.

IIRC, GTA4 was pretty platform neutral when it came to bugs. Hopefully they fix it instead of doing a straight port again.

Red Dead and LA were okay technically. Though the aliasing is pretty bad in RDR. Never did really get into either game. RDR is one of those games I felt would have been way better on PC with a keyboard and mouse.

I think for racing and fps games the xbox controller is great. For platform, adventure and action games i prefer the playstation controller. It feels faster for me.

Being a previous PS2 nerd, (and PSX), I absolutely love the style of the controller. Also, I love the triggers the PS3 controller has. Makes more sense to have those as accelerator/decelerator for games.

I think racing games are best played w/ a console controller, be it 360 or PS3, while (most) other games are best played w/ a mouse and keyboard. I mean, you can never be as accurate as w/ a mouse.
