What will you do in your self-driving car?

You've got your self-driving car, and now that you don't need to pay attention to the road, what will you do to keep from getting bored?

I will play Plants vs Zombies on my smartphone.

Wait for the computer to crash and drive me head on into a diesel truck at 100mph.

Look around more than I can while driving, plan more routes to see more stuff.

You zombies with your eyes welded to your devices have no idea WTF is going on in the world.

Not drive, of course.

As long as you get paid, who cares.... I'd happily work during my commute to minimize the time in the office
Unfortunately, that's not how it works. Back in the 50s people said technology would make it so we would work just a few days a week because we would be so much more efficient.

See how that turned out. We are now way more efficient with our time, but now we often work even MORE hours because we can do it anywhere.

I can see the comparison, but... it's not exactly the same. Consumers paying for the self driving cars vs. employers paying for the computers.

This. I love looking out the window. I still see interesting things I've passed hundreds of times before.

I'll probably want to drive myself for the most part if that is still an option. Self driving cars will really be a benefit on longer trips though (2+ hours) where I'd like to just kick back and relax.

It is not going to work that way, not for a lot of years. You/someone will need to be behind the wheel of the "self driving car" for it to be legally on the road. So, chances are, nothing will change.

This. I had little interest in any of it, until someone mentioned the idea of a car driving off to park itself after you arrive at your destination, then coming back to pick you up. That would be badass. I'll probably be dead by then though.

More concerning is self-driving mode becoming mandated once they get it to be safer than all the dummos behind the wheel. I'll probably be very dead by then too.

Can't wait for this!

Sleep, watch tv/read, study, work.

Treadmill in the back of a van and work out? Weight bench in back and lift?

I've already had a self-driving car for years, called "public transport". Usually I read, listen to music or audio books, browse the web or watch youtube. Sometimes I just take a nap, especially on the train.

Umm I actually like driving, unless it's like a 5+ hour roadtrip.

Exactly - I find myself over the limit and playing catch up with some other cars just to keep myself entertained on the thruway. I wouldn't mind putting those trips on auto.
