Neat. Where did you get your Special Forces training and how many tours of combat did you complete?

These are pellet guns:

At night, someone pulls one of those out and points it at you, your adrenaline racing and now with a fraction of a second to react, you're telling us that you KNOW you would be cool and collected enough to realize you are not in fatal danger?

Kudos to this guy for his reaction... I'm not sure I would have reacted the same. Nor do I ever want to be placed in that situation or anything like it.
Ok, I guess I should've added a caveat to my post: I'm 99% sure I wouldn't.

you pull one of these out, you are likely going to die. even if it has a yellow tip on it, how the fuck do we know it isn't a real gun with a painted yellow tip?

With your adrenaline pumping, you probably couldn't process the difference between someone shooting .22lr/9mm or BB's.

Hey, is this a super soaker or a 20 gauge shotgun?

I carry and I wouldn't blow a guy away for shooting at me with a pellet gun.

Pellet gun huh? Only if it would result in my death, but I don't how that can happen in this scenario. :\
My kid's pellet rifle fires at 1000 ft/sec. More than enough to be lethal.
Killing someone is serious business and once you kill someone you can't take it back. Me for starters... I would not carry a .45. Maybe something in a smaller caliber that makes a lot of noise but doesn't pack quite the punch.
My suggestion is don't carry then.

I call pellets to the head that can cause you to loose you eye risk of grievous bodily harm. My state and most states authorize the use of deadly force to defend yourself against grievous bodily harm. I wasn't there so I can't say what I would have done nor do I now FL law, but in NC it would have been a legal shoot from the account given.

In your state, how would you handle a person that admitted to firing warning shots?

From the article:
When police finally captured Quinnell and told him that Mohammed was neither Muslim nor Middle Eastern, he reportedly replied that he didn't care and 'they're all the same'.

The 25-year-old allegedly yelled at Mohammed for being a 'n***** with a white girl' as he shot him with a gas-propelled pellet gun.

Hope this guy goes away for a long time.

I don't like the idea of warning shots at all. If you feel threatened to the point of using deadly force, use deadly force. If your firing warning shots then it hasn't reached the point of needing deadly force. If most states the language is essentially your in fear of imminent death or bodily harm, if it's imminent your not going to be firing warning shots. Either that, or you haven't mentally prepared yourself for the moment. It's one thing to talk about defending yourself, it's another to be able to pull the trigger with the sights on another human.

Another issue is if you warning shot ricochets or in some other strikes a bystandered. If you shoot you have account for every shot. Best way to do that is to put the shots on target.

You don't pull your gun to fire warning shots. You pull your gun to shoot at the target.

Me personally, if someone is pointing and shooting a gun at me, and I'm carrying...I pull my gun and shoot back. I do not want to ever be in this situation, but that's why I'm carrying in the first place.

As others said above, amazing restraint on the part of the person who was shot at.

If the attacker had a real gun, the guy would have probably been laid out before he could return-fire. After he started shooting, it'd be pretty easy to know the difference between a pellet and real gun. Kudos to victim though I know I tend to lose it a bit when physically threatened and can't imagine what I'd do if I knew I could get maimed by this ass-clown.

I wouldn't take a life for that either. I would shoot him in the nards. Then everytime he looked at his dismembered nards, he would remember that day when he fucked with the wrong motherfucker.

I don't know what I would have done, but amazing on his part to show restraint.

Actually, I do know what I would do. I would fire warning shots in the air to scare that racist fool off.

I would have pulled my gun and fired into the air and warned him the next one was going into him.

Not this
