I can usually tell when people are dumb. RR was not dumb despite lefts portrayal fearing his power and popularity they tried to use this low IQ canard but in Sara's case I think it's no joke. If you can believe it, or not, I don't care, I have something in the 160s and can always tell someone equal or better I simply dismiss them as smart but someone less it's easy...

I've historically tested in the high 140s to 150 and I'm far, far from being genius or brilliant for that matter.

If I had to guess, <100 IQ points.

I'd love to say someone so popular with a good segment of the population has a good head on her shoulders, but unfortunately I've listened to her speak too much and it's clear she's just another career politician who can't think for herself. I see a disturbing lack of integrity in addition to the yokel-like fundie ignorance she seems to be proud of.

I don't see anything in her academic career that makes her stand out either, which affirms what she's already done and said to prove she isn't qualified to run a burger joint, let alone a lofty government office.

I'm all for a strong, smart woman taking a turn running the country. But the notion of Palin being that woman is just bad, nee, HORRIBLE comedy. I think women in general should be especially outraged. There are far better representatives of double Xs to choose, conservative or otherwise.

Edit: Forgot to mention, I feel there is a difference between being "smart" and being "clever."

I took stats in college also.

I can provide a little bit of circumstantial evidence, IQ shows decent correlation to years of education completed (r=0.52), with the average in the U.S. being ~12 years. So you can make the argument that the Average IQ person of 100 completes high school.

I've completed ~19-20 years of education, which would put me above average... but I'm having hard time finding the std dev numbers for years of education completed, so I can't tell you with certainty where I fall.

- palin is not a politician. politicians run for office and, if elected, serve in that office.

I would imagine that technology-related forum would have above-average IQ readership.

During grad school I did work with a kid that got a 1600/1600 SAT and he's tested around 180 in the IQ dept. He wasn't the smoothest operator, but far from the socially-incompatible outcast stereotype. Extremely intelligent guy, just not very cognisant of the goals of the department.

And hey, I've read enough of your posts to understand that you're a populist reactionary. You don't have a political ideology except to react out of fear, so it's understandable that you think that everyone else is similarly motivated. 'Right' and 'conservative' are just labels you give yourself to fit into a group. And Palin somehow became the champion of that group in 2008 because she was ambitious and she wasn't a Democrat. My suggestion for Republicans, going forward, would be to hold their leaders to stricter standards than that.
