I was born smart, and it basically sucks most of the time. That being said I don't care about money in the least, so I'd still rather be smart. Actually I'd rather be about 1sd above average...those people are in the perfect position.

That's a dumb question. I'd happily take the money. With enough effort and enough money spent, you can become smart. It's easy if you have the money.

It's a lot harder to be smart and become rich than to be rich and "become smart" (if that makes sense).

An education does not make you smart, but you can live life without being pampered and eventually become smart. You'll at least never fall on particularly hard times.

Voted smart, but after thinking I think rich. I envy dumb people at times because they can relax and have fun so easily. At parties, I tend to worry about consequences of the day/week after, but I wish I could just relax at the drop of a beat.

Edit: And most of the smartest people I know aren't very successful. They're either pursuing pipe dreams or they're doing so many things at once they have trouble getting their lives in order.

Ummm, no, not really. You can increase your knowledge, sure. But your actual intelligence and, to a lesser extent, your capacity for knowledge are dictated by genetics. The best you can accomplish is to raise yourself to your maximum potential...but that potential is individual and dictated at conception (or at least by birth).

I'm already born poor and smart-ish and let me tell you it sucks. I would gladly trade 30IQ points for a $ 300,000+ salary and the best part is, I would still be "above average" in terms of IQ

Too bad my IQ never translated into something meaningful. I still can't spell or do math

Edit: Does IQ measure "smart"? I do notice that I'm able to comprehend obtuse subjects much more easily than those around me. That could be the sole reason that I have a high IQ...
