What would you personally do if your cell phone was stolen?

Regarding personal and sensitive data and such. I want to be more cautious but I feel like I shouldn't store too many email accounts onto my phone.

I use a passcode on my devices (and soon my fingerprint), but I recognize that it's not bulletproof.

I would get onto another device as soon as possible to lock and locate if I can. And then I'll remote wipe it.

I doubt anybody's going to intentionally steal my well aged iPhone. If someone did, I'd probably freak out a little. Then use Find My iPhone to remote lock and locate it. Then report the theft to the cops and my provider. I don't believe there's an unlock hack for the version of iOS that's on it, so they'd have to go to Fido to register it. Essentially rendering their prize useless.

it's scary how much sensitive data is in some people's phones.
all i use my phone for is voice/text/surf/music/video/maps. nothing sensitive like banking/passwords.

Yeah it's scary nowadays to store sensitive information on your phone. But if in case my phone is stolen, remote wipe would be the best option.

Same as everybody else here - remote wipe, and forget about it.

That being said (knock on wood) I feel like there is a bigger chance of losing it than having it stolen, phones these days just aren't as big-ticket as they used to be, and with providers banning stolen phones now, they aren't really worth as much either.

Wouldn't worry a bit. My iPhone 6 Plus is locked with a complex passcode and fingerprint. I can also track it or remote-wipe it from icloud.com

There's no "sensitive data" on my phone.

Oh wait, besides that file right on the desktop labeled "Bank account and passcodes written down here, safe combination (plus map to my house and location of safe) various secret stuff, codes to all my investment accounts and how to steal my identity kit- DO NOT OPEN."

Um yeah... but since I didn't actually -like a complete bonehead- create such a file or set anything else up on my phone that's a completely unprotected virtual roadmap into some "sensitive data" a thief would be interested in... I would be pissed only for the loss of the physical hardware.

I'd simply attempt to track the phone to get it back before a thief does the only thing a theif would actually do with it... wipe/sell it. And I'd kick myself for whatever stupid thing I did that allowed it out of my hands/pocket/view long enough for someone to steal it.

Mine stays on my kitchen counter as the home phone I guess.

I still do not carry one around.

1) Immediately change passwords for GMail, web sites and applications which have "remember me" selected.

2) Attempt to either locate or remotely wipe my phone using Cerberus and/or Prey Project Pro. Yes both are already installed.

3) Recover myself or contact law enforcement with GPS co-ordinates, pictures, videos, etc.

Check the pictures it sent ever time they tried to unlock it, then have it send GPS coordinates, then wipe it.

Pictures and location would be sent to police.

Police will not use that data to recover phones.
