what's with all the grumpy people who didn't do anything for xmas, didn't get together with family or friends, and didn't exchange gifts? It is one thing if you aren't christian, but if you're not, why bother coming in here

Well it's really because some of us aren't as spoiled or sheltered as others. We know that to have your family around at all is a blessing and shouldn't be taken for granted. Case in point, my parents were hit by a car in October, we lost my mother and my father only came home from the hospital 2 weeks ago. Personally, this is the best gift (as my entire life, work and all, went on hold for a period of over 2 months while I came back home to take care of my kid sister in the absence of my parents). These days, if you have a family, you're lucky. If you have a great one (like I did) you're even luckier, but people just don't seem to realize that.
Just wanted to keep you all grounded. I did, however, buy a wii (to pass the time and think about something else for a change) and a macbook pro for myself for xmas (I was planning these purchases long before any of this befell me though), and a few things here and there for the dad and sis. I'm just happy to be home for the holidays and be going back to work and my normal life in the new year.

that answer has nothing to do with the question.
