According to Mahoose, the monthly insurance premium on a 20K car is about 1.11% of value. With the mentioned PDA insurance, the monthly premium on a $450 PDA is also 1.11% of value.

The deductible on the car is 10% of value, while the deductible on a $450 PDA would be only 8% of value.

Although this deal does not appeal to me, by Mahoose's own logic it doesn't seem too bad a deal. Certainly not one that deserves such a venemous, immature response.

Personally I've had two Palms screens break so far. Maybe the deal should appeal to me, then again maybe I should just be more careful

apparently you missed the whole point. the point is that if you compare the deductible and premium on the pda to the deductible and premium on the car it is a complete crock. Would you pay those rates on a 20k car?

Like every insurance, it just depends on your lifestyle. Personally, I consider my Palm use very light so this isn't for me. However, if you completely depend on your handheld and drag your PDA all around town and through airports, it would probably be a pretty good deal. Just have to figure out where you fit in there, and whether the cost of replacing your PDA would be worth it to you.

Healey, big difference is that with the car insurance, they pay hundreds of thousands of dollars if you get injured or you injure someone. That's what you're paying for. I don't think I'm going to sign up for this. At the same time, I'm a big fan of extended warrantees at local shops (like Best Buy). They've saved me tons of money replacing broken receivers and cd players.

Well actually I'm currently paying $366 for comprehensive &amp; collision on a car valued at $15k, so 222.22 seems like a deal to me. The auto rates being used as examples are for collision and comp, not the thousands for liability etc. So looking at premiums as a percentage of value is valid for comparison.

Using a PDA with a value of $350 the monthly would be 1.3% of value per month. Like almost all insurance it seem high, until you need it.

Maybe not a hot deal, but certainly worth investigation by some folk and not worth derision by others.

MahooseCaboose, is this really a scam? This is something that seems very useful to me if it is legitimate, but if it is a scam, everyone considering the service should know about it.

Why are you suggesting you should get booted from the forum? I've never seen anyone recommend it... unless the junior member status and hidden profile suggests that it's a temporary username anyway.

The moderators would have their hands full if they booted people for posting 'ice cold' deals. 'Ice cold' deals are not scams. You just have to weed through them. Part of life, part of a forum. You're either in or out, no big deal. I've been told there is life beyond this forum. Not sure I believe it.

You know... this is a great deal if they are willing to insure my symbol 1500's I got 4 of them I use to scan product in a warehouse they are always used and abused... considering they are like 600+ each I wouldn't mind insuring them... wooo ill do this calling them tomorow
