Just as a point of interest.. Someone stepped on my Visor and handspring had a new one on my desk the next morning with a prepaid mailing label to send back the broken one. Very good service!

This is actually pretty cool...wish I would have known about it a year ago when I first bought my Palm and was extremely paranoid...was looking for something like this...

Oh well...now, I'm too apathetic about it...I love my Palm, but the data on it is backed up, and it rarely leaves it's cradle, my pocket, or my hand...

Are you people morons? Really, are you completely stupid? This is the worst deal I have ever seen in my life. 4-5 bucks a month to insure a PDA. On top of these shenannigans they want you to pay a $36 deductible. What a load of crap. Let's look at comprhensive/collisoon car insurance and compare insuring a 20k car or a $360 PDA with these rogues.

Monthly premium:

PDA $4
Car $222.22 (keep in mind this would be collisoon on a fully loaded hinda civic 2 door)

Deductible When PDA or Car is stolen:

PDA $36
Car $2000

WHAT A HORRIBLE DEAL. ANYONE WHO DOES THIS IS AN E-TARD.

what's a hinda? is that what hyundai owners call their POSs when they want people to think they have a honda? civic my ass, you've got a tiburon and took off the name plate. if you do have a civic, it's probably got a spoiler and an exhaust pipe the size of the hole in your head.

I think the ~$50/yr + $36 deductible would be better put towards a new Palm device, seeing as they're obselete in about 18 mos. anyways.

I disagree that it is so easy to lose or break your palm. I think you're a moron if you think this is a good deal. Why would you even present this deal in this forum. That is such a lame deal. Don't you think the deductible is a bit high considering the monthly premium. You really are a full fledged idiot.

You got me on the Hinda thing. Good job man keep throwing away that money.

I think I agree with dna2z on this one, save the money and apply it to your next handheld. The crap PDAs we got today are not worth anywhere near as much as they cost so bet on the future and hope they come out with something better.

That scenario is probably built into their financial analysis. That forces them to charge 48-60 dollars a year in premiums plus a RIDICULOUS deductible.

For the life of me I can't figure out why people inist on responding to other user's deals with demeaning insults. I personally didn't think it was that great of a deal but I would just close the thread and just go on to the next one. (I might change my mind once I drop my Palm IIIxe) Part of your post made some sense, then you blew it away with your insults. Do you really think people are going to listen to you when you insult half the users in the thread? If it's meant to be light-hearted, it's a good idea to make that clear. Comments like that turn a thread into a flame party. Just my opinion. Notice I didn't call anyone anything either.

I just find it a shame when people like unsped try pitch deals to the board when they are scams. It's pretty common knowledge that specialized insurance policies are bad deals. People that waste money on PDA policies are the same people who get tricked into to buying cancer policies and extended warranties on $20.00 toasters at Service Merchandise.

I guess I could've been friendlier in my apporoach to this but i wanted to make it clear that this "deal" is borderline fraud.

Actually, as you so slanderously (is that a word?) call this a 'scam', you may want to know that this company is a major sponsor for Avantgo, which happens to be a sponsor for the forum you're throwing your words around in. I have also seen this 'scam' on major technology sites such as Cnet. Like I said, it's not for me either, but really doesn't call for personal attacks. I do know that such attacks are not within the forum rules. Just some friendly advice. I'm not a moderator, so I don't have any control. Proceed at your own will.

Mahoose:
I see you are a junior member, and I would advise against the thread crapping/flaming that you are doing here if you want to retain your forum membership.. If you don't like a deal, ignore it. Don't post messages calling people morons just because it is not a hot deal in your opinion. And personally, if I lost a $400 piece of equipment, I would not mind a BIT paying $36 to get a brand new one. Of course its not going to be extremely cheap, but that's how the company makes its money. Otherwise everyone and their mother would be calling in saying they "lost" their PDA just so they could get a new one for free. But once again, most importantly, don't flame other's posts.

Wow! imagine that. Who wouldn't want to pay $36 to replace a $400 piece of equipment. However that isn't the case. You are paying a monthly premium on the chance that you may lose your PDA. The bottom line is that this is not a hot deal.
