*Final Update* RESOLVED by ZZF

i followed the Sapphire Tech's advice and begg ... um, *appealed* ZZf's decision to "the boss" ... they replied today:
Please be informed the following is your Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) Number & procedure for replacement of item number: XXXXXX]

Excellent!

*case closed* ... for me

it goes out tomorrow back to ZZf ... So ... i have a *brand new* Sapphire x1950p AGP for sale ... certainly within 2 weeks ....

... or a *slightly used* 7800GS that is a decent O/C'er

*cough*

everything's zen

[i don't think so]

Glad to hear everything is worked out. Personally, I think you should keep the ATi card in my opinion, unless you plan to do a rig overall soon. 256 MB Versus 512 MB might not be a big deal today, this day, but STALKER and a few other games are coming out shortly that just might use more for thos textures... Plus, since you were CPU limited, it gives you plenty of room to enable AA/AF...

I'd still hang on to that 7800GS if I was you....give the Sapphire another run, they are blistering fast, but with Sapphires track record lately with X1950Pro....that 7800GS might come in handy again..

i kept updating it

and i wanted to let everyone that was interested that it was *resolved* without involving Sapphire at all.

thanks to ZZf ... they didn't "have to" ... but they did, anyway
[i tried to make them feel a little "guilty" by suggesting they might not be *responsibility free* since they don't have any mention of these hidden RAM "processing fees" on their site ... but they were totally cool]

so it means it is a "normal RMA" ... i pay shipping [inc. insurance] to ZZf and they return it at their expense. I wouldn't dare ask for more ... nor do i deserve any more.

i think i am just gonna sell the Sapphire

i'm a nvidia fanboy now

not

but i like the GS and to keep the x1950p i wouldn't feel right UNLESS i upgrade the PS ... IF it failed again, i would be stuck with the $15 RMA... and i don't even want to chance it - at all --even with an upgrade.
Why upgrade my PS now? i think the GS will last me till next year ....

sapphire's rebate was probably never gonna come to me if i hadn't called them to ask where it was... just a little added note, and i'm sure others said this already in the thread
(didn't read whole thread).

okay, good day!

just like with RMAs ... Sapphire "farms out" their rebates ... probably to the very cheapest bidder

now i gotta hope the Post Office destroys the package ... it's heading back to ZZF in Newark, CA - *fully insured* [priority $10.80]

it *costs* $15 [$30 in Canada] for a RMA *processing fee*

on a cheap card *needing warranty* it is sometimes better to just throw it away ... it costs you for postage too ... so it is at least $25 to RMA any Sapphire card

there are no links to this deceptive scam i can find on ANY of their sites

be aware

not revenge ... just a head's up RMA'ing a $90 card - if needed - for $25 - is a *crime* in my opinion ... most people will just toss it and Sapphire's Scam is "working"

... to their customers harm

sigh

i did

it is Fifteen dollars for a *RMA processing fee*

30 dollars in Canada

Plus ... you pay [as usual] shipping to them

so add ten bucks unless you want to both wait forever and skip insurance

fifteen plus ten is twenty-five

which is *crap* if you have a card that is worth $50

What may happen if that board becomes a DOA? Paying 15 bucks for replacement, and without of Proof of Purchase? I'm just a bit confused though.

huh?

which board ? .. and ...

what "without proof of purchase" ?

ZZF has kindly extended their own warranty to me ... i shipped it to them at my expense, priority and insured ... as expected and as usual ... without a scam *fee*

i guess i could open it and *try* it to make sure it works ... but i will leave that to me and the wishes of my potential buyer.
