Nope don't disagree with his point. People will know to buy Sapphire from newegg or whatever. Is a valid warning - don't buy sapphire from zipzoom - unless price is so good you are willing to risk the poor warranty support after 30 days. As for needing to dig below his bs fud to get to that one point - why bother. Personally I was very annoyed years ago when I bought a sapphire 9600xt advantage for a family members computer. Found out upon receipt that the "advantage" was slower ram. Lucky I bought from a reputable dealer (ncix) and got full refund with free shipping). I also just about bought a ultra 6800 once (the price was so great). Just in time realized that an ultra 6800 wasn't the same as a 6800ultra. The computer market can be very sleazy and is nice to have people post accurate warnings.

So warning taken - when buying Sapphire - use a reputable company with a one year return policy. Or likely pay a bit more for a nice warranty if that is important to you. Now will this save hearing about appopins' woes in every thread from now on? Really I think he made up that stuff about iq to pay ati back for his poor purchase.

Getting this upset and deliberately circumventing the language filter is not helping your case any apoppin. Just calm down a bit. Nobody is going to take you seriously if you don't stop ranting.

and THEN *what* ... after the i year return thru NewEgg ?

*same* crap sapphire RMA policy with at least $30 in the crapper

NO .. the Moral is *do NOT buy from Sapphire* if there is ANY other choice

they do NOT honor their warranty without charging you

i didn't make a stupid mistake like you did ... i would have returned it before i opened the package ... i got exactly what i wanted ... when it FAILED their RAM process kicked in ... and i am WARNING YOU ... it is HELL

i think the thread speaks for itself ... anybody considering Sapphire must be having second thoughts about their "warranty"

show me where i am circumventing the language filter

fsck is not profanity and neither is bastage

grow up ... you don't think *you* would be irritated in my position - getting screwed by Sapphire RMA "sevice"? ... and is that all you have to "add"?

This is pretty retarded. Most companies split the shipping costs and some cover it both ways. I've never heard of anyone else charge the customer for it both ways.

So exactly what does "fsck" stand for then?

All I was saying is that ranting isn't going to solve anything. If you keep your cool you can sometimes get companies to go the extra mile where shouting and threatening most definitely will not. It's just a matter of getting in contact with a different representative, or possibly a supervisor and pleading your case.

Again

Your ego of entitlement does not work in a free market.

That would make some sense if they were advertising RMA policies as some form of competition, but they're just screwing customers who everyone knows will just automatically assume there's no hidden fee for an RMA ticket number. Shipping is another matter.

you should read my posts in this whole thread, im not posting in here anymore, people just spreading FUD
why bother ... you didn't say anything other than agree with big business' having a "right" to screw their customers

miss you ... and i *hope* you get screwed and laughed at - just as you are doing at me for making an innocent mistake - buying a sapphire product

the fault lies with them

and you are a bigger TOOL

well im back

big business is not screwing you appopin, if you read the warranty it probably states somewhere that there will be shipping fees involved, your screwed in the head if you think by buying a product, thinking that all warranty agreements are the same, and involve free shipping.

I'm not laughing at you, I'm just trying to prove a point that the responsibility is with the consumer, and that you have no right to try and publicly denounce a company for something you where never entitled to in the first place.

The fault lies with you

buy from the egg free rma service

lesson learned
too bad

and your HAHAHAHAHA sure gave you away as NOT laughing at me

and your 'point' is lost on sane people

--show me where there are fees for Sapphire warranty service advertised - ANYwhere

you talk big . ... but that's all

and after 1 year - with NewEgg - i'm still stuck with Sapphire's GARBAGE rma policy

Big Business isn't screwing me ... Sapphire is and your cheering them on

i can't help but hope it happens to you

You could have looked at the sapphire warranty on the website, most company's don't advertise warranty's per say. Also the warranty agreement is probably enclosed in the box . Can you get that out and read that for me?

Too be honest it has happened to me. I have been in the same situation as you with gigabyte over a faulty motherboard, and other products as well. Do i start a thread denouncing the company involved? NO because consumer electronics are not guaranteed too last forever.

I'm just shocked that you seem to know a lot about computer's and electronics and yet you think that sapphire is the only company doing these types of practices.

And I assure you I am completely sane, I just like arguing with people

*you* look it up

there is NO warranty info in box

we are talking 30 days of a 730 day warranty ... not "forever" like your MB

and - QUICK - Name ANOTHER *big manufacturer* with crap RMA policies like Sapphire

you may like to argue ... but you are *awful* at it and make no valid points pertaining to *my issue*

nvm i looked on bfg website this line is the most curious i find

You assume the risk of loss in transit and the returned Products shall be the sole property of BFG Technologies. BFG Technologies warrants the repaired or replaced Products will be free from defects in material or workmanship.

YOU ASSUME THE RISK OF LOSS IN TRANSIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

you insure the package?

the way i read it the "loss" is from the transit to replace the porduct, or a clever way to say shipping fees

Recommending or taking a stanch stance based on a one off experience is quite wise, am i right?

Reminds me of Tom's jump to conclusions mat from Office Space.

Ya man, I don't like 'em either; Newegg advertised the x1950xt as having a $30 rebate putting it at $220, so I grabbed one; after receiving it, I noticed the rebate form said the date range for valid rebates ended ten days before I bought it. Now, if it were a day or two, I could see it, but ten?? Not to mention all the crap you have to do to actually get the rebate... see this thread! http://forums.anandtech.com/messageview...atid=38&threadid=2006583&enterthread=y

you're the Prime Jumper

You think i should be *burned twice* by Sapphire before taking a *stand* ?

.... and the ATI fanboy shows up to defend the indefensible ... it'll be nice being on the *other side* from you for a change - i always felt embarassed to have you on *my side* in an argument

lol. That's what I was thinking. Apoppin paid hard earned cash for a product, and he shouldn't have to pay more for a broken one.

What a joke. AMD's purchase of ATI looks worse day by day. Not only is ATI a one horse show, late all the time, crappy drivers and now it seems they let thier board partners nickle and dime you to death on warranty work. This crap would never fly with NV.

Poppy I appreciate you informing us how utterly lame thier policy is compared to thier competitors.

Actually AMD *rescued* ATi before it self destructed ... and got great tech and engineers in the deal
--now they will stand or fall together -- depending on AMD ... not ATi

Hopefully AMD will *shake up* ATi's [former] partners like nvidia IS shaking up and restructuring theirs right now.

My thread is not a *beef* with DAAMiT ... just with Sapphire's "Screw the Customer" RMA policy

THAT and that reason *alone* is an excellent reason to NEVER buy any Sapphire product
--i think Sapphire just lost some future sales by this information being *revealed* tonight

it sure opened my eyes to what a cheapASS company they have become

Quit yer sidestepping and looking for something to grab hold of to take attention away from the subject. It's obvious that appopin is not cursing or swearing at anybody in here, but displaying how upset he is without actually using swearing. This is done by changing a single letter in a word to make it not "unpleasant" to read, but still get it's meaning.

My card is a Sapphire one and still running like a Charm, but in that time Sapphire was one of the best card manufacturers and the cheapest one, currently their cards feels cheap and many of them are troublesome, what can you expect for example a Sapphire Radeon X1950PRO 512 which cost a whole lot less than the same card made from a different manufacturer? Too good to be true. That's why I read forums like the ones found in Newegg to see how many DOA exists, for now the best and fastest Radeon X1950 AGP is the HIS Radeon X1950PRO 256 with the custom cooler which is dual slot, it is factory overclocked and have no issues, but the 512MB version has some issues, Powercolor version works good but the first revisions came with a resistor defect close to the fan. I'd prefer to spend the 15 bucks on the card, fix it and then sell it to somebody else and buy another X1950 PRO from another manufacturer, the GeForce 7800GS simply is not convincingly enough for my tastes, seen many benchmarks in the web like in Anandtech.com that even the X850XT outperforms it in the 60% of the games and benchmarks (Except 3DMark06) (At stock of course). My card performs about the same (Though the RAM timings in my card are tighter but the GPU clock is near it's limits, overclocking sucks here hehe). Simply the X1950PRO is up to 30% average faster than any X850XT or 7800GS and that can be more depending of the game scenario. Overclocking a 7800GS simply will put it on par with a stock X1950PRO in many (Not all) game scenarions, so overclocking a X1950PRO will put you in the same league as the 7950GT (at stock is already close to it anyways) which smokes the 7800GS.

I wouldn't buy another HIS card based on their none-existant customer support ... I purchased two X1900XTX's (first w/factory HS/fan & second IceQ3) & only when the IceQ3 started artifacting at 3 months old did I find out that they do all their RMA's through the vender, however since I had mailed in a $40 rebate on the card & thus no longer had the bar-code returning it could easily have been a problem! Good news is that in this case the vender was Newegg & they took the card back without a hassle & since they no longer carried that model I was able to exchange it for a 8800GTX + cash.

EVGA by the way has some of the best customer support in the business & they charge a fee for RMA's, however they also will do an overnight shipped advance RMA for a little more & more important still they tell you about it up front.

Edit: Also in regard to the OP ... Sapphire has always been know for terrible RMA support so none of this is news to me... stick with Powercolor or Asus for decent ATI GPU warranty support.
