<< "These flybynight bands these days need better record producers!
I had this one mp3 that sounded like a bad bootleg. I downloaded copies from all over and they all sounde3d just alike. I bought the cd and guess what. The cd itself sounded like a lowbitrate mp3! I was pissed. " >>
This is off topic, but I just couldn't resist. Um...now unless you're talking about a big name group (i.e. a major label contracted), that is very common. Do you have any clue how much a high quality studio recording session costs a band to produce? Most working or underground bands have to do their recording DIY, which generally means they either record it at home with cheap equipment or at a cheap studio. It doesn't have anything to do with record producers or anything, or that they are fly by night bands, they are just doing their best with what they have. Those big bands get their label to drop $1000's of dollars for them to record with the best quality studio equipment. Sorry, I don't want to sound mean or condescending(sp?) but I'm in a band and I don't think some people realize that low recording quality doesn't mean the band is clueless or doesn't know what they are doing.
