dude i just got that deal tonight! best burger i've had from mcdonald's in at least a decade.

it was definitely bulk beef.

Did you get the new fresh-not-frozen beef? They just rolled that out here. It's better, but not like Five Guys better. Ketchup is too sweet & bun is too soft lol.

Well yea I'd expect it to not be as good as five guys because it's not as expensive as five guys.

Five Guys is awful (price-wise). Dinner for two was $26 last time I went. That buys me like five pounds of ground beef lol. I'll stick with my smashburgers at home kthx

five guys is good. Certainly not awesome. Certainly doesn't suck.

It takes me about 37 minutes to get to a shake shack so I'll count myself lucky.

Holy crap, this thread's got legs. 12 years old and still going.

I very rarely hit McDs but last week it was the only place near where I was driving, so I tried the new fresh quarter pound burger. I'm not a fan of their typical condiment array and really dislike their mustard so out of curiosity I asked if I could have lettuce/tomato only (neither of which come standard). Surprised that not only they said sure, but asked which KIND of lettuce I wanted - shredded or leaf. That ain't the McD's I thought I knew.

But then I was upcharged 40c for tomato and 25c for lettuce, which was a bit of a downer. But worth it to avoid their nasty ketchup, mustard and pickles. I thought the burger was pretty good quality and was definitely fresh. I believe the sign that says cooked to order. I know Wendy's is fresh (never frozen) but sometimes you can get a burger that's gone crusty from being on the grill too long.

Would eat again.

It's a lie. All cows have to be frozen for x hours to kill bacteria and shit after slaughter.

he means the price. Five Guys does make a very good burger, but the value is wretched. Also, their fries are quite terrible, so much of your inflated pricing for a burger and fries is going towards junk.

Sorry, clarification, I mean awful pricing.

Gotcha. I will agree 5 Guys is a bit expensive. Also, their fries are excellent when doused with Malt Vinegar and sprinkled with salt.

I find malt vinegar to be necessary on any fry...or potato product, really, but that doesn't fix the soggy mess of those fries when they are served to you. I've heard that you can request them extra-fried and they may (or may not) fix this for you, but I haven't tried it. I don't go to Five Guys very often because I'm not Richard effing Branson.

i will cut you

Does a B1G1 double quarter pounder with cheese from McDonalds count as "bulk beef online" when I order through the McDonalds mobile app?
i even have their app and didn't even think to look at it. an extra double quarter pounder would have made me feel even more glutinous and disgusting.

it's just ok

if i have to choose between 5 guys and shake shack, i'm hitting the shack every time

but i almost never go to either of those places, because there are local options with either better quality burgers or better value burgers

You have crappy Five Guys. I never had soggy fries at Five Guys. Always crisp and well fried. The burgers are good but only if you get it fully involved as the meat patties are pretty small. But then again, when I make burgers at home, each patty is 1/2 pound and I use two patties on my burger.

I do not like the fry's at five guys either. Dry with too much seasoning.

I like that you can get so much on the burgers but they end up a greasy soggy mess.

we got some great local burger joints around here. I live in a densely populated area near NYC but there is something just that little bit extra special about the shack.

Is freezing ever an effective way to "kill bacteria?" As far as I know, the main reason to freeze is to inhibit bacterial growth.

Five Guys fries used to be amazing. The last few times I've been there, the fries were bad.

They use a different source for the potatoes every week (or is it every day?). A chalk board on the wall says which state / farm the fries came from on any particular day.

Holy crap, this thread's got legs. 12 years old and still going.
OP was arrested, charged, convicted, and jailed for stealing Miatas. His routine was to squirm underneath and remove the alternator or something. People speculate on why OP had asked about buying beef in the size of an alternator.
