What's a good place to buy laptop AC adaptor for CAR?

Why not just buy an DC-AC inverter? It wouldn't take a high-wattage unit for your needs and so would be a relatively affordable alternative.

Inverter's the way to go. That's what I always used in my vehicles. Not only will it power the laptop, you can use it for other things also. If you want to get crafty, you could get a high wattage inverter, and hide it in the vehicle. Then hardwire an A/C outlet somewhere nifty, and run a microwave, fridge, TV, or whatever with it.

Can the car really handle all those? I really doubt it can run a fridge, tv, or microwave, let alone together.

Worst case scenario: You get stranded on Mercury, far from any gas station.

Edit: Choke on that, causality!

Sure it can. You won't be using the lighter plug to power the inverter, but if you hardwire it to the battery with suitable cables you can run all those things I mentioned. Not at the same time without an electrical system upgrade, but any one of them can be powered by a typical car.

Edit:

Another vote for an inverter. I have a 400 watt - 2 plug inverter that I use to plug in laptops, cell phones, GPS units.

Another vote for using an inverter as well. It's basically a power socket in your car. Plug inverter in (and for your uses you can get one that plugs in through the power socket/cig lighter) and then plug laptop into inverter.

Believe it or not, I ran my z-5300s in my 96 camry with this exact method. The inverter kept overheating though, the power draw when the bass hit must've been crazy. My friend and I fashioned a way to have the inverter mounted in the groove of my windshield cowl so when I drove, it was air cooled.

Stay classy.
