Whats a good voice recorder?

So Does anyone know whats a good voice recorder? I need to tape some lecture notes. Can't spend too much on it, 100 or else.

Also, what is the usual format that is saved?

I have a sandisk MP3 player that also does voice recording. It should be adequate for your needs. It saves the data as a wav.

I second the sandisk. Buy.com had a refub one for $40 for 2gb. It also has a microsd slot for additional storage. The cheapest Olympus that will allow you to transfer files to your pc iw the ws-100. MSRP of $80, records in WMA. Sony's cheapest that allows file transfer is the IC-P520, msrp $49. It doesnt state the file format, but guessing that its sony, it something proprietary like ATRAC or something worse. Personally, Id go with the sandisk, buy another 2gb card for $20, and keep all your notes/lectures on there and listen to them whenever/wherever you want.

the sandisk c250 and siblings do seem to record voice well. im no expert though, but you can clearly hear various discussions around a room when you record
