Whats a reasonable temp to set your thermostat at (winter in NE)

I keep forgetting you haven't been to my house. We have to have you guys up. We're running forced hot water through the baseboards. Plus, the house has foot high trusses in between floors, and it appears to be insulated. Basically, our three zones are well isolated. So I need a boiler to circulate hot water, I can't just blow hot air, it won't find it's way upstairs.. . .

Alternatively, I could get a pellet stove on the first floor, since we have a pretty open floor plan and only about 900sq ft to cover on that floor. I'm just not sure where I'd put it. We already have a propane fireplace, so maybe rip that out and put a pellet stove in there, but it's all the way in one corner so circulation is an issue again.

I hear you. We have some issues circulating the heat from our pellet stove too . . . it doesn't reach my son's bedroom. But it gets to 85% of the rest of the house with the help of a couple ceiling fans. Helps that we have a vaulted ceiling in the living room.

I definitely need to come up and see your place. Will drop you a line in a couple days.

Our work schedules are way to screwed up for any programmer to work. If it was just me it would need a 28 day schedule. Toss my wife's on top and it would just be ridiculous. We just leave it at 72 and call it a day.

I leave mine at 58, then just start up a fire when I get home.

Set to 65 when we're up, 55 when we're at work or sleeping. It would probably be set lower, but we have cats.

In the summer it's 78 when we're up, 90 when we're not, with a window unit to keep the bedroom comfortable enough to sleep.

Between 67 and 69 for us. Sometimes if it's damp in the air (which makes it feel bonechillingly cold) we'll bump it up a few notches. Rarely ever over 72.

I figure I'm a big boy, I pay the bill.

This year, I've been just leaving it set at like 67... Any colder, and the GF complains when we go to the basement to watch a movie as it's usually a few degrees cooler down there.

When she's not around I might drop it down a couple of degrees

What do you do after you are done watching the temperature go down?

Turn it back up and get a fresh batch of popcorn. We canceled cable.

Though sometimes I will just go do some laundry so I can watch the front-load-washer-with-a-window channel.
