What's been the best car you've driven?

I did a favor for a friend yesterday, and got to drive this. It was the most fun I've ever had in a car. How about you?

I haven't driven many cars that weren't mine. Until recently, my favorite car was my 300M. I really loved that car.

For "driving experience", it's between the G35 and my current TL-S. But I'd have to say my favorite, not in driving but in the total experience, was the Mercedes E-class I test drove. It was the epitome of luxury, and I almost stretched my budget to buy it (but I'm glad I didn't).

I'm not an enthusiast like a lot of people here, so my answer may be benign to some. My energy is spent more in audio and video.

it was leaky, it was later stolen, and it was my friend's, but i LOVE my friend's 96' integra. you feel so close to the ground and the steering feel is perfect.

as for acceleration, i wasn't driving, but the E39 M5 was INSANE. my altima's VQ makes a nice noise, but it doesn't hold a candle to the M5 in terms of excitement.

Depending on what you're into either a '97 Vette or a '02 LS430. The Vette was incredibly fast for a 17-year-old but I only got to drive it for a couple of miles and that was about 8 years ago. I've put a lot of miles on the Lexus as it's my dad's and I borrow it occasionally.

My friends dad was a member of some car club and got picked in a raffle to take home a black on black '06 Z06 w/ black wheels for the weekend. I got to drive it and OMG that car is fast! I never before drove a car that could achieve 0-60 times in less than 4.5 seconds and damn it was an experience. If I owned that car, I'd probably have my license taken away. The car sounded awesome and the shifter was very smooth. You could easily roast the huge 325's on the rear in almost any gear.

"Best" is hard to quantify, but my personal favorite so far has been my '86 944 Turbo, followed closely by th '06 Mustang GT.

Best car I got to drive was my uncle's 2003 Porsche 911. At his insistence, I "took it up a bit" on some sweeping mountain highways. Lots of fun to drive, and terrific brakes.

I later got a speeding ticket in my own car on one of the stretches I drove in the 911. I was going less than half the speed I had been in the 911.

I worked as a valet in newport beach CA, needless to say there are some sweet cars around that area. Most memorable was the Ferrari scaglietti that I took for a little spin, or the Lamborghini Gallardo that revved like a motorcycle and sounded like a jet engine.

A word to the wealthy car owners out there, if you valet your supercar and dont see it parked immediately you can assume that the valets are having fun with it out back.

My grandfather's 2007 Malibu.

I'm going out next weekend any my uncle's going to let me screw around with his new BMW 5, so this post will probably be updated at that time...lol.

I drove the Saturn Aura, which I understand is virtually identical to the Malibu, and I wasn't wowed (and that was the loaded model, with the V6). It wasn't a bad drive, but nothing special.

I am impressed with the value of that car, though. For the money, it's a nice looking vehicle with nice pick-up. (Both the Malibu and the Aura, that is.)

Well, I happen to be 17, and the two cars my family owns are a 1988 minivan and a 1998 LeSabre. So for me, the Malibu was a breath of fresh air.

Well, that puts it in perspective.

Of course, there are several on here who would scoff at everything I've driven, and I'm 40.

My good friend's custom '70s Triumph Spitfire. Has an old Honda B20A motor in it with some kind of turbo setup, probably only ~200hp, but it's plenty for that little thing. I can barely fit in it, those things are really tiny inside.

Driving a Spitfire was fun, but I liked my '69 MG Midget better. It was so small it was like driving a go-kart. Manual choke, no synchro-mesh for first gear, convertible top that I never put up, horrible brakes that required advance planning for stops, dual carburetors that continually needed fiddling. It was truly basic motoring. What an enjoyable pile of garbage. Every time I smell an old car it brings me back to those days.

Occasionally I get the desire to buy another one. Then I remember that I spent more time working on it than driving the dang thing.

'72 Charger with a '70 440 dual quads (was originally a tri-power), straight thru Thrushes, ladder bars, and street slicks.

I spent too many days working on that thing, seemed like every weekend trying to get rid of a pre-ignition and when we finally did get it to run right my buddy took pitty on me and let me run it through the gears.

That same buddy now has a stock '81 RX7 with 30K mi. on it, a '70 Cuda 440 tri-power with 60K mi., the car is so clean and stock it looks like it just rolled off the assembly line, and a '71 340 Cuda built to the gills. I've never driven the Cudas, but they're all in their own heated pole-barns.

My '02 Z28 is probably just as fast, but that Charger grabbed you by the gonads.

1990 Audi 100 Turbo Quattro owned by a friend's dad. He did some major modifications to the drivetrain, including a swapped turbo setup that was putting out around 300 WHP on the dyno. The BOV had a very distinct sound, almost like a deep exhale instead of the high pitched "Psssssh" that you hear from many tuned turbo cars these days. It handled pretty well too, with low profile Toyos on 17" Speedlines and Bilstein shocks.

Close second would have to be my friend's '91 Audi Coupe Quattro 20V. I'm 17, and learned how to drive stick in that car . He's planning to install a turbo this summer, so the car should have a healthy 300 HP under the hood.

Not the best....but the most fun car I have driven so far...would be my dad's 5spd manual 1994 Mercedes 400E (Which happens to look identically to the one in this pic)....Those were some tightly built and designed cars....even though I am a self proclaimed BMW fan boy....the E-class at those times was the standard for what's good and didn't cost a fortune(still cost quite a bit anyways). Driving that V8 E-class was a sweet experience I must say I haven't experienced a car like that so far...not that I have driven that many really nice cars since those days (currently mostly driving 4-bangers)...but I would borrow a mid 90's E-class to drive around anytime

Thats a nice ride too, back in the day my uncle used to have one of those except diesel in Poland. I remember going to Germany in it and still putting out easy 220 km on the autobahn without a hiccup. Amazing cars.
