So right now I have a 7200.10 Seagate 320gb drive as my main drive, and an aging ide drive for additional storage. I'm reaching the point where I need another hard drive.
Should I get another 320gb and go for raid 0? I do a lot of video encoding, video editing, and things like that. (I dont game at all) - and I know failure rates are double with raid 0 - but I back up essential documents/files.
Now I've been out of the loops for a long time, first post here in years, back in the day raid 0 was all the rage. But from I read now days, no real performance gains from raid 0.
So am I better off just getting a new 500gb or maybe a 1tb drive? Or should I look for another 320gb drive and go a raid 0. The 320gb drives are real cheap on ebay - but they are old technology.
I'm thinking that the newer drives, have improved technology, so that a new 1tb drive outperforms 7200.10s in raid 0? Is that true? Price wise another 320gb drive is way cheaper, and I can add another drive for storage later, using the raid 0 as my main drive for performance....
thoughts?
