is it better to overclock the FSB as much as u can by lowering the RAM settings?

or trying to find the highest stable FSB with the most agressive settings on?

with my RAM settings backed all the way down, i can get somewhere between 186-190 (something like 1.89 ghz) FSB stable, i havent had time to really do a stress test so i cant say exactly for sure yet.

im using corsair XMS pc2700 btw

How about with aggressive settings? It depends on the RAM -- some sticks will go much faster at more conservative settings, others will not go much higher by increasing latencies. I'd go for the configuration that gave the highest 3dmark...

well id say the ram is pretty good... but i dont think i can hit a very high fsb with agressive settings... i tried 2 different athlon xp 1600+ cpu's.. one can hit 170 FSB and runs stable easy... the second cant even run at 160 FSB stable... their both AGOIA cores too.. the Corsair XMS 2700 is holding up well at the 170 FSB.. i have the DDR voltage @ 2.6, and the vcore at 1.75, should i go any higher?

Sorry for the late response, I hope you're still out there... anyway, you say you can get to 186-190 fsb on the ram, and you also say you're using an XP1600+. How did you get the ram that high? That XP1600+ won't run 190x10.5 on air cooling. Do you have unlocked cpus? LMK.

PS Push those cpus. If they top out at 1.75v, add another .025v and see what it gets you. Keep going til 1.85v. LMK.

One more thing: if you're running that XP1600+ at 170fsb, at 10.5 that means you're getting 1785MHz. Pretty good! I think at most you'd get another 100MHz by upping voltage to 1.85v. You might do better, but I doubt it. Anyway, might as well try, but if you're using a locked cpu, to answer your question: run the ram at most aggressive timings. Your cpu is holding you back. It sounds like you've got good cooling, so push voltage up to 1.85v, use most aggressive ram timings, and max out the fsb.
