What's coming after Samsung ban?

What's going to happen in the phone market if Samsung gets all it's Android devices banned like Apple is pushing for? I'm wondering if we're going to see a different batch of good phones from Samsung, an explosion of Windows 8 phones, etc? I'll probably upgrade my phone early next year and I'm thinking the market is going to change a lot.

Samsung will work around any patents that they ruled for and then there will be a giant plethora of attacks launched at Apple IMO.

None of Apple's patents are strong enough to ban Android or Samsung in general. The case just proved Samsung has, in the past, copied some of Apple's bullshit patents. Samsung will/has worked around those and will continue to crush Apple's market share.

I honestly wouldn't surprised if Apple's phone market share drops all the way down to about the same percentage as their OS market share at some point in the future.

Won't happen. As other posters have pointed out, Samsung will just work around Apple's patents. That their latest hardware isn't highly similar to Apple's designs further reduces the likelihood of Apple succeeding. If for whatever reason, worse comes to worse, Samsung will just settle on Apple's terms and license patents from Apple. They'll still have phones around.

I also thought the S3 was un attractive when I saw the pictures. But when I went to a store and actually held it in my hands, I found it quite the opposite. Very beautiful device.

Went hands on with a Note 10.1 Saturday. Definitely a cheap piece of crap. The display model actually had dents in the plastic back panel. Say what you will about the HoneyComb Tab 10.1 and 8.9, they were well built hardware. Even the Tab 2 models are a cut above the Note 10.1.

On topic though, what the trial opened the door for are rounds of petty suits from Apple. Course, at Samsung's appeal, they'll likely get a different judge. A judge who will let them introduce all the banned evidence Koh blocked. And a jury that will actually go over the prior art claims, not simply ignore them because it would 'take too long to go over'. No shit it would take a long time, there's decades of prior art.

On Wednesday/Thursday there was a report out that Apple had added 4 more devices to the list that they're asking the judge to ban, totaling 21 devices now, and this includes the Galaxy S III.

The SGS3 and Note 10.1 were designed by lawyers to avoid Apple suits. Didn't matter, soon as they launched, Apple filed.

this samsung cell was out before the iphone so if anything the iphone copied samsung.phones evolve and the galaxy line would of eventually ended up they way they are today even if there never was an iphone made
