I was in class a while back and my professor had given us a simple extra credit assignment. She wanted everyone to find something of importance on the internet, cut and paste it and email it to her. Should be simple...

Well this one girl had no clue and she had to ask the porfessor what cut and paste meant. My professor then walked the girl to her office after class and showed my peer the proper way to cut and paste.

true, but comeon. Cut and pasting material should be so simple. Especially when your going to be teaching and especially since technology is a HUGE part of todays society.

If this was the stone age then true. But it's the year 2004 and technology is of main importance in our society. If she can't do something as easy as cut and pasting material then her computer skills are severly lacking.

just my opinion.

On the same token, English teachers would rip your sentences apart. Different strokes for different folks.

True but then again I'm on a forum and not in a classroom being graded by my professor. My writing style on the internet is of the free flowing nature.

Cars have been around for 100 years, and are basically the backbone of our society, but most people don't know how to do a simple oil change.

Still want to argue?

And I showed my boss' boss how to do that. And then had to point out that the stuff on the clipboard stayed there til you overwrote it.

You know in Spanish they have an upside down exclamation point. As well as an upside down question mark. So question is, señor exclamation expert, is that just a lowercase i or a different character altogether?

Hardly have to be a "computer dork" to know how to cut and paste... :disgust: And fwiw I'd much rather be a "computer dork" than a reality-TV-watching, Dell-owning, AOL-using, SUV-driving idjit. Further, the OP didn't say the girl in question was a dork of any kind or otherwise insult her; he merely mentioned it for our amusement. Apprently it hit a bit close to home for some

Well neither do people know how to reformat their computer.

Actually, it's "copy and paste." ALmost 99.99% of people say "cut and paste" when they mean copy stuff and paste it in documents such as research papers when quoting.

Cut and paste = removing text from its current position and pasting it to another location.
Copy and paste = duplicating text and pasting it to another location.

There is a difference.
