but i just stuck it in a boring old mutual fund instead

My work is sneaky -- they give us an Amazon gift card instead of cash so I can't just send it off to the brokerage. (We also get profit sharing but that goes straight into the 401k.)

I play by their rules, and only use it on fun things not essentials or Child's Play. So far I've bought myself a Raspberry Pi 3 to play with and maybe use as a music jukebox, plus a couple of music CDs and some Arcor fruit flavored hard candies. Yep, I'm a wild and crazy guy, a party monster.

Last year my company told us they were not giving us bonuses but instead just putting the bonus into our raises that we get annually every year instead. I haven't found out what my raise was yet this year though but should find out before the new year since it goes into effect January first.

We always get a $100 amex gift card though too, not sure what I'll blow that on, probably something on amazon.

My company cuts out the middle man and simply pays out hookers and blow in lieu of cash.

I maxed out mine and my wifes IRAs, threw several thousand at the mortgage on the house, and saved the rest for after the holidays so we can pay off Christmas. I received a very handsome bonus this year.

Waiting on my year-end bonus to be paid in Feb which is 25% of comp but usually get a $250 holiday gift card from my boss which I have not received yet. I'm thinking it will not be coming so will not be blowing it on Costco Booze & Gas like usual.

Managed to pick up a handle of Dewars 12 last week for $30 so I'm set for a while.

We bought new front doors for our house last month, that is our Christmas present to each other. They are mahogany with leaded glass inserts, they haven't been installed yet though...

I'm getting her an ipad though and I'm pretty sure she's getting me a fitted car cover for my car.

nice! i could use mine to go on a nice vacation after filling up the roth ira, but i'd feel bad if i spent all that on a week or two. for some reason it feels bad spending bonus money on vacations instead of "regular" money. yeah, money is money, but i'm dumb like that.

i might get some of it back out though to buy my mom a decent fridge for christmas, she has put up with her tiny el cheapo crappy fridge for a decade

My company's fiscal year ends at the end of June I believe... sooo ...yeah, I get my raise/bonus around July/August or so.... As much as I want it, I get 0 excess income in the month of November/December.

That said, when I do get a bonus I treat myself to a few beer bombers that I wouldn't normally buy that are priced $15-20 instead of $8-12.

EDIT: That said, I'm glad to say I have enough savings (and monthly income) that I never give a shit about when I want to spend money. This month we decided to replace our builders-grade carpet and HOLY SHIT is it a million times better. The house doesn't smell like shit. The carpet is nice to walk on. Definitely an awesome investment that will pay off when selling the house in a few years.

My company pays out on gift cards when we get an award, and even still it will place the equivalent monetary value on our paycheck to serve as taxable income. Expect your "hookers and blow" to appear on your next paycheck, buddy
