Wow! Didn't think my post would generate this kind of discussion! Great info! Thanks for the input. As it turns out, I just couldn't pass up the Dell PE400SC deal. I decided to pick it up for a total of $303.00 to my door after the $100 mail in rebate. I'm not an overclocker, and the price was right. Now just got to decide on memory to take advantage of the 800Mhz bus and DDR, etc.

Thanks guys for the discussion!

in your own mind.

Unwrap yourself from the Anandtech universe! While this is a great place to gather information and express ideas, it absolutely does not represent the mainstream computer user. I own a computer repair store, we also sell sytems. 99.9% of my customers have no inkling of the stuff we discuss here. They are mainstream users and they judge a computer by how it "feels" and how much it costs. A few are interested in playing games fast, and those just need it to play their favorite game without any hesitation, benchmarks are not even considered.

I absolutely disagree with shops that tell people they "need" a million dollar machine when the customer doesn't even know what it can do. We are different on Anandtech, we know what these machines are capable of and actually use it.

just another arse who actually doe not read my post.....Go look at it!!! I said if you game this is not HT enabled get the 2800+xp.....I AM TELLING HIM THE MAIN DIFFERENCE IS GOING TO BE IN HT with a 5-10% boost in dual channel memory I saw in a wide range of apps, as well as a even smaller boost in the faster bus.....

Actually my other comparisons of a 2.8p4c is ased on the overall Anandtech, PC tech Report, Tomshardware, etc reviews.....MOst competent cpu users know this....

Duvie, you're the one showing their arse! Oh my god! Your whining like a little baby and the quote you have in your post from me wasn't even talking about you. Pull your head out please. Why don't you read the post where I quoted you, and agreed with your HT observations.

Wow, imagine if AMD got the money to buy SSE2 from intel, then wut.... Anyways, I am going to throw my input on this about the "feeling." I myself have a old skewl tbredb 1700+ at 2500mhz. My little bro has P4C 2.6c@3.6. Besides those, we have similar hardware, same HD, same vidcard (mine is sapphire 9800pro, his BBA), same moniter, same memory, different case, different cooling (im water, he is slk9whatever). When he comes over to LAN a bit, we never tested opening up applications at the same time to see speeds, BUT he always marvels at how my computer "feels" faster.

I don't know exactly what that means, im drooling over his system and how much more FPS it gets outta games. But I do notice the lag time is smaller with my system. 3.6Ghz vs 2.5Ghz and mine feel's faster opening up things like Outlook, dbl clicking on a word document and loading up word, browsing along the internet, booting up time.

All in all, next time he comes over, maybe we will clock it (and record video on my nice new canon a70). But this post is funny since I never thought about feel even though every time my bro comes we talk about it. That's why I had to post this. Maybe this can be somewhat scientific.

The only reason he got the p4c is because I told him to LOL (he doesn't know too much about comp hardware) and he thinks somehow I tricked him to get a system that is worse than mine for higher price LOL. I show him his benchies and mine and then he is finally satisfied.

Wow, better be careful KIAman. All those P4 jockeys with those superior benchmarks will be out to lynch someone for making a simple and obvious observation that comes from inferior hardware that costs less money

They're gonna have to hit some serious Hyperthreading benchmarks to make themselves feel better about spending more money. Strange, I don't see many comments/benchmarks from the Intel sector comparing the Athlon64 to the Prescott.

Yeah, I guess I'm asking for a flaming, bring it on!

Hello! So I haven?t posted in a long time. But I do like reading the post especially Intel verses AMD. It?s like Hockey you know before the end of the game someone is going to fight. Both are good both have their merits . Me I haven?t upgraded I?m still using my Abit kt7 raid with a XP 2400+ set to 20 x 110 is the best I can do. 2200MHz is fast enough for me.
