Just bought a 2014 Acura TL and am looking to tint the glass. It's been a while since I've been in the market for tint and I'm wondering what's the latest/greatest, and what to avoid. Thanks.

same old same old. find a good installer. avoid a bad installer. install is the most important aspect of window tinting

Was just quoted a price of $359 for Huper Optik ceramic film.
Anyone have experience with this product? The shop owner swears by it.
My main concerns are heat reduction first, clarity, and I'm concerned about the film interfering with the Bluetooth and nav system.

Well the new thing with tint is the clear stuff. The clear tint that blocks out 90%+ of the heat and is almost clear like glass.

Aside from that its the same old stuff. Everything is on the installer. I never had tint bother me BT or nav system at all. I only go to one tint guy who uses Johnsons tint. No issues there except after 13 years it started bubbling only on my rear window. But my father smokes in the car so i think its related.

You should be happy with that tint and the price sounds about right since it varies a lot from place to place and for dif brands. Why would you think ceramic tint would interfere with your bluetooth and nav?
And thank you for not saying tints.

13 years? That's a pretty good run.

I was confusing it with metallic tint. But after doing some checking around, I see ceramic isn't an issue.

One of the best tints available. I've had it on my wife's car for 2 years now. Great stuff. The only tints I'd use on my cars are Huper Optik or 3M Crystalline. Both are fantastic.

Anyone familiar with Premium Tech film: http://www.premiumtech-films.com/.
The Acura dealer recommended an installer and quoted me a price of only $150. So I called the guy directly and didn't mention Acura's quote. He swears by this brand, claims it is a ceramic film, charcoal tint, 30%-15% front-rear, lifetime warranty . .for $100. Too good to be true?

Got Huper Optik as well, paid extra for their 92% heat rejection film. (vs the standard 57% HR)

Driving a black sedan, it made a huge difference in how my car handles Texas summers. Before, I was keeping the A/C all the way cold at 75% fan. Now I can turn it down to 50% fan and 3/4 cold.

100 bucks barely covers a good installers salary, let alone the cost of the film. especially if it really is ceramic. the TL is a bit difficult to tint due to the window styles, so i would have expected around 300 from a good shop. especially one that warranties their work as well as the film. my friends tint shop uses the ceramic for windshields, but most people dont want to pay the premium for it over the solargard/ standard film. ive had solargard on my truck since 2006 and the only thing wrong with it is the scratches ive put in it myself.

I contacted PremiumTech directly. Guy told me they don't even sell a ceramic type film. Clearly, the installer is bogus.

I think it was about $450 to do my car including the moon roof with 3M Crystaline. Worked great the last two summers in the Georgia heat.

Anybody ever heard of Solar Gard?

Local guy quoted me $180 for it, says it's his go to brand.

Going on a 2013 Hyundai Genesis Coupe.

I put Solar Gard in my wife's car around 8 or 9 years ago and it's held up great. It's HP True Grey, I'm not sure how dark it is. Maybe 38%?

thats a good price for solar gard in the genesis. not a lot of windows, but the rears are a bit difficult, and usually price higher than the standard coupe rate. i have solar gard on 2 of my vehicles, good tint so far
