What's one of the best PSUs for around $50-60 for stable OCing?

When I oc my 1600+xp to 1.75ghz by bumping fsb to 166mhz I get a lock up when running prime95 after several minutes. I don't think the problem is in ocing, I think my problem might be in a PSU, I'm using an Enermax 350watt PSU and it seems real bad in mtherboard monitor. +3.3v is 1.60, on 5v line I get 4.89 and it drops as low as 4.7 when CPU is under load. Finally, Vcore is the worst of them all. In BIOS it's set at default at 1.75v, but in reality motherboard monitor shows it's only 1.71v. When under CPU stress, Vcore goes haywire. I raise it in bios to offset for this mistake to say 1.8 but it will actually be 1.75 when I boot. Furthermore, it fluctuates big time, when CPU is under stress, it can fluctuate by as much as 0.05v, stuff like that, one moment it can be 1.78, another 1.74. Plus I heard that Enermax PSUs have problem with EPOX 8k9a boards. Do you guys think I should get better PSU? If so which one? Are Antec TruePower PSUs any good?

assuming it is a psu issue here are the two i always recommend

1. fortron (same as sparkle) 350W
get it here
this one is $38

2. allied truepower 450W
and here
this one is $40.99

the reason that makes these so good is that they have the required 230W combined for the 3.3 and 5 volt rails.. and the fluctuations are supposed to be with ~1% while the standard for a decent psu is ~5%

the antec truepowers are pretty good... i have a 430W but had i known about the quality of these, i would have gone with one of these two.. hope that helps!

Thanx for replies guys. One qustion about that Allied Trupower 450w PSU. On newegg website it states:

AMD APPROVED good to 2200+

Is that bull or will it crap out on me with higher CPUs than 2200?

If I'm going to spend good money on PSU, I will need it to last a bit longer than till my next cpu upgrade.

It will work fine, ignore the label.

One more question I forgot about, does that allied truepower 450W has a grill cut out on the bottom? I see from pics on newegg that it's got a fan infront (probably mostly useless) but it's the bottom grill+fan that is very important with athlons since they suck hot air right off the cpu and blow it out.

Thanx.

EDIT: DOH, I didn't notice that one of those pics is a PSU flipped upside down. Looks like it doesn't have any cut outs on the bottom which is a shame.

I have the Allied 450-watt. The two fan system works very well keeping my 2300MHz AMD well fed and staying very cool at the same time. It has adjustable pots for the 12v and 3.3v rails. This power supply is very strong, better than my Antec 400-watt which I paid considerably more for.

I have a 3300rpm 80mm Enermax variable fan on my heatsink, and that is the only thing I can hear. So I would rate the sound level of the Allied very reasonable.

POTS = manually adjustable voltage, kinda like a volume control

And yes I know the difference between linear taper and audio taper, just using that for an example
