Flight of the Valkyries
Mars The Bringer Of War

This is the only "classical" music I have besides Ode to Joy and In the hall of the mountian king.

Pachabell's (sp) Canon in D

Band: Bond

They take classical songs and basically recreate them with techno and rock vibes. They have some excellent songs, especially on CD Explosive.

A few random selections that I like:

Beethoven's symphonies 3, 5, and 9 (all are good, but those seem to be the most well known)

Piano concertos by Rachmaninov (the 3rd especially), Liszt, and Brahms.

Do you mean "classical" as in symphonies, operas, concertos, Mozart, Chopin, etc...

or "classical" as in classically-inspired artists such as Rhapsody, Camelot, Savatage?

Mozart is great, but the IQ stuff is BS. (edit: not quite BS, but certainly nothing as great as everyone seems to be claiming)

Rachmoninoff is my favorite band, though Beethoven is a good band too. If you like the piano, check out the band "Chopin."

Classical is a giant genre, what exactly do you want?
Piano Solos? Moonlight Sonata is my favorite.

Canon in D is the only classical song I like aside from Final Fantasy tunes.

Rachmaninov's Piano Sonata 2 is great, as are his preludes (I particularly like the preludes in B flat major and G minor from opus 23). Liszt and Beethoven also have lots of piano solo pieces that are worth checking out.

Go get everything from Franz Liszt if you like piano.
I really like Yo-Yo Ma, great cellist.
Then of course there's the usual suspects, Bach, Beethoven, Vivaldi, Chopin.

And so much more...

I'm guessing that the suggestions of Bach, Beethoven, Mozart, etc. as bands wasn't quite what you had in mind. My collection of stuff is on my other computer; the only band I can think of off the top of my head is California Guitar Trio. They play a lot of classical as well as other stuff on guitars (duh.) I always enjoyed their music. Oh crud... there was someone else who was absolutely amazing on the guitar; I heard it on one of the NPR stations on streaming audio while I was at school one night... I remember writing down the name, but can't remember who it was.

I had assumed that, given the nature of the rest of the post, the reference to "bands" was simply in ignorance.

For something a bit more modern, there's always Yngwie Malmsteen's Concerto for Electric Guitar and Orchestra.

Great choices. If you would prefer something more modern, try some of Zappa' (Yes, Frank) classical pieces. They are extremely intricate and somewhat hard to follow, but excellent.
