What's the best book for emag?

I'm looking for the best book on electromagnetics, the one I had in course I and II I can't remember the title of, but it sucked, and I want more info, any suggestions?

Jackson's "Classical Electrodynamics" is a classic but it is a physics text, I am not sure if electrical engineers have the neccesary mathematical background (I used it in a post-grad course).
The first emag book I ever used in a course was Cheng's "Fundamentals of Engineering Electromagnetics". It is a pretty good book and it is also the one I still look in occasionally when I need to solve an "engineering" problem. It is much more applied than Jackson's book.

The book by Griffiths is fairly good too, a little more undergrad oriented than Jackson.

i used Harrington in a grad class in time-harmonic (dynamic) class at Santa
Clara U. good book, good instructor. we derived Snell's Law from Maxwell's
equations.

thanks, i know this isn't highly technical but most of the people in here would have better recommendations than OT.

I would have to say anything having to do with emag is highly technical. I hated that class. Got my C+ and got the hell out.

I am BSEE UT Dallas grad may 2007.

I went to a ... ummm ... state school. Took EM three times and it wasn't until the last one that I got a teacher (lecturer, not a professor) that spoke English as a primary language.

Now, I love math and I am an abstract learner. I have never, ever had such a difficult time as I did with EM.

Therefore I cannot recommend the book we used: Applied Electromagnetics by Shen & Kong.

Because of my experiences in college, particularly with state school professors, I value good communications over technical ability any day.

Harrington has some classic EM texts. In addition to Jackson and Griffiths, I'm a follower of the Kong school of EM due to my advisor. So Kong's "Electromagnetic Wave Theory" and Chew's "Waves and Fields in Inhomogeneous Media" are advanced texts that I would recommend. Chew's textbook is rather dense but it does have a lot of information in it. Our Uni uses Balanis' EM text for the intro Grad course but I'm not a big fan of it.

I studied Electromagnetics through that book, very good book, the guy who wrote is one of the most important in his field, it can be found on Ebay for a good deal.
