Whats the best budget P4 overclocker?

Whats a good sub $150 P4 that will overclock pretty decently (3+ghz)? You can find a prescott 2.4A for $130 on newegg and the northwoods are just as much.

175$ will get u a 2.8c northwoood that has HT and oc that baby to 3.4 ghz supposedly "easily" =]

600MHZ on a P4 2.8C only if you buy a better HSF, the stock 2.8 will not allow you 600MHZ OC. I would opt for a 3.0C which comes with a decent HSF that will allow you to get to at least 3.5GHZ. Or go OEM and buy a quality HSF.

You can get 2.4c to 3Ghz easy at 1:1 ratio on air ($135).
You can get 2.8c to 3.4Ghz stable with some volt modding at 1:1 ratio on air ($165).

1:1 ratio is not a big deal. The 2.8C is the best bang for the $$ right now. Plenty of overclocking room there.

For sub-$150....the 2.4C is defintely the way to go if you have a board that will do high fsb. I grabbed a 2.8C M0 from a friend of mine and definitely do not regret it. I'm at 250 fsb (3.5 ghz) at 1.55 vcore actual. Best money I've ever spent.

either 2.4c which are great overclocking chips
or 2.8c

i got both. the 2.4 will do 3.0 stable at default voltage (1.525v) (btw, i'm selling this PM me if u want he he)
2.8c 30 cap D1 SL6WT will do 3.5 stable at default voltage, using stock hsf (gotta get a sp94)

Any P4 will give you a nice OC, just see what fits the most the money you have...

I've tryed many 2.6C, 2.8C, one 2.8C M0, one 2.4C M0 and the last one this 30cap 3.0.

The best of all, no thought for price/performance is the 2.4C M0 for the ones that have very good materials to go with, or a 2.8C for those that don't.

Almost every 3.0 30cap will give you 3600 easily...

i'd get a 2.4C b/c it's cheap. but i would love to get anything higher. get at least C stepping. i read somewhere that there's also D stepping and those should be better, but i don't really know. i'm going to be trying out a mobile P4 2.0 w/ C stepping some time this week, but at the latest this weekend. i'll let everyone know who that goes, but you'll be limited by your ram. get really good ram and just keep on upping the FSB till it crashes and then back it down a notch.
